Choosing Humanity Over Perfection.

in Hive Learners3 days ago

Memory helps us remember people, events, lessons, names places and a whole lot of things. We can say it(memory) is something we all depend on...on a daily. There are times we forget things, from small things like names of people, an item...to big/important things like appointments, important documents and all. The idea of a brain chip sounds appealing/good, cause who wouldn't want to be able to keep and remember every single thing and never forget anything. It's like a quick fix for the forgetfulness of the brain.

We also need to know that the memory is also about feelings, experiences, memories, lessons and emotions and not just about facts. As humans, we tend to or let me say, we are prone to forget things. The other day we discussed a topic about forgiving and forgetting, how that it is hard to forget certain things. Nevertheless, there are times we forget certain hurt being done to us, and it allows us to heal fast, move on and focus on important things. Now imagine if the brain is wired not to ever forget. I wouldn't agree with the idea of a chip though...of a truth it would make one remember things, but it cannot give the feeling that comes with the memories.

After some little research, I found out that the brain chips are also called Neural implants, and that they aim at interfacing brains with computers. In as much as they have either advantages, such as treatment for paralysis, memory problems and the likes, it also raises certain concerns about privacy, safety and control.

And, life is full of surprises, I doubt if I can let anyone go that deep into touching my brain. God forbid anything bad happen. There's always prone to be risk when dealing with even small things, talk less of something as big and important as the brain. Not everything can be predicted. Let's just leave it as it is, that is how we grow, that is how we've been growing, why put ourselves at risk. We forget things, accepted. But we also remember them atimes. A perfect memory will take away the beauty in learning from mistakes and having cherishing moments.

I will choose to stay as I am, I will choose to stay with this brain of mine, I will choose its strengths and weaknesses. It's okay to forget things, and it's okay to remember things. There's a different kind of joy in suddenly remembering a happy moment, I want to feel it, the same way I want to recall a sad moment and feel bad. Those moments are what shape me into who I am. Memory isn't just about remembering every single thing, it's remembering things that matters while learning to let go of what does not.

A brain chip cannot replace a human memory, the good times, the bad times, the memories, the forgotten name, the smiles, the experiences, the forgotten item and all are what makes us Human.
