You can study your whole life, seek extra knowledge, go to college, take courses... But do you know what the real school is? Life. Theory is just theory; it is practice that teaches. Of course, school has its value, but what really teaches us is life, with its experiences. That is what builds our wisdom. And, believe me, there is a huge difference between knowledge and wisdom. How did I discover this? Outside of school, living life.

I can't say that I always dedicated myself to my studies. Although I was a “child prodigy” in high school, I can't say that I was the most diligent student. To this day, I am remembered by the teachers at my old elementary school as the person who had the best grades the institution has ever recorded over the years. And even though I never studied before exams and only applied what I learned in class, my grades were exemplary. This led many to think that I would have a bright future, that I would be someone important, but the truth is that I'm just a regular guy, trying to fulfill my dreams.

Why am I telling you this? Because, despite a promising start, school doesn't teach you much. Doing math is easy, learning grammar, biology, and geography is trivial. Do you know what school doesn't teach? That in life, although studies open incredible doors, they are not enough when you don't have opportunities. And opportunities are not always enough either. Sometimes you have them, but you don't have the family or financial structure to continue on a path that could be incredible. Life, then, teaches what school does not: you need to create your own path and fight for what you want. Knowledge is no guarantee of success, and opportunities are only opportunities when you don't know how to take advantage of them or that you should accept them.

Of course, the more you study, the greater your chances, but life is built on effort, hard work, and even more important things: wisdom. Wisdom does not come with knowledge, but with time, experience, and living. And that's when you begin to understand that knowledge is only the basis for seeking what you need, but it is wisdom that brings the realization that networking is essential. Knowing how to communicate well, being persuasive when necessary, and knowing where to apply your effort is often more important than simply working where you have the most knowledge.

Things are not as easy as they seem, and saying so may sound like a tutorial on success, but it is not. School teaches you the basics, knowledge can be profound, but it will always be just the basics. True learning lies in the wisdom of applying what you know, combined with other needs in life. Those who do not develop this awareness end up becoming obsolete, stagnant, always thinking that they already know enough, because, in their perception, school has already taught them everything they need to know. Poor are those who think this way.

One thing that has helped me in life, even if belatedly, is: you will never achieve what you want just by doing the basics, even if you are good at it. If you don't develop extra skills, soft skills, public speaking, and seek to meet people who can add value, things will move slowly. Wisdom comes from experience, and good experiences come when we try, make mistakes, and learn from our mistakes. Failed attempts are not failures, they are wisdom. Taking risks, seeking and seizing opportunities is what will make you a wise person. And wisdom definitely doesn't come from school.

Some things only come with time, and wisdom is one of them. But I'm not talking about the wisdom of an elder, but rather knowing where to look. School doesn't teach you how to maximize your chances, it just teaches you something that everyone learns, and how are you going to stand out if you learn the same thing as everyone else? So it is necessary to have this vision, it is necessary to understand how life works and what it takes to have a successful life. But of course, I need to make this final observation: success has nothing to do with how much you earn or your social status, and do you know what true success is? That you will have to discover for yourself.

Você pode estudar a vida inteira, buscar conhecimentos extras, fazer faculdade, cursos… Mas sabe qual é a verdadeira escola? A vida. Teoria é apenas teoria, é a prática que ensina. E, por mais que nunca tenha estudado antes das provas e só aplicasse o que aprendia em sala, minhas notas eram exemplares. Isso fez com que muitos pensassem que eu teria um futuro brilhante, que seria alguém importante, mas a verdade é que sou apenas um cara qualquer, em busca de realizar meus sonhos.

Por que estou contando isso? Porque, apesar de um começo promissor, a escola não ensina muitas coisas. Fazer cálculos é fácil, aprender gramática, biologia e geografia é banal. Sabe o que a escola não ensina? Que, na vida, embora os estudos abram portas incríveis, eles não são suficientes quando você não tem oportunidade. E nem sempre as oportunidades são suficientes também. Às vezes, você as tem, mas não tem estrutura familiar ou financeira para dar continuidade a um caminho que poderia ser incrível. A vida, então, ensina o que a escola não: você precisa criar seu próprio caminho e lutar pelo que quer. Conhecimento não é garantia de sucesso e oportunidades são apenas oportunidades quando você não sabe aproveita-las ou que deveria aceita-las.

Claro, quanto mais você estuda, maiores são suas chances, mas a vida é construída com esforço, trabalho duro e coisas ainda mais importantes: a sabedoria. A sabedoria não vem com o conhecimento, mas com o tempo, a vivência, a experiência. E é aí que você começa a entender que o conhecimento é só a base para buscar o que você precisa, mas é a sabedoria que traz a percepção de que networking é essencial. Saber se comunicar bem, ser persuasivo quando necessário, e saber onde aplicar seu esforço, muitas vezes é mais importante do que simplesmente trabalhar onde você tem mais conhecimento.

As coisas não são tão fáceis quanto parecem, e falar assim pode até soar como um tutorial do sucesso, mas não é isso. A escola te ensina as bases, o conhecimento pode ser profundo, mas sempre será apenas o básico. O verdadeiro aprendizado está na sabedoria de aplicar o que você sabe, aliado a outras necessidades da vida. Aqueles que não desenvolvem essa consciência acabam se tornando obsoletos, estagnados, sempre achando que já sabem o suficiente, pois, em sua percepção, a escola já ensinou tudo o que precisavam saber. Pobres daqueles que pensam assim.

Uma coisa que me ajudou na vida, mesmo que tardiamente, é: você nunca vai alcançar o que deseja apenas fazendo o básico, mesmo que seja bom naquilo. Se não desenvolver habilidades extras, soft skills, oratória, e buscar conhecer pessoas que possam agregar valor, as coisas vão andar devagar. A sabedoria vem da experiência, e boas experiências surgem quando tentamos, erramos e aprendemos com nossos erros. Tentativas fracassadas não são fracassos, são sabedoria. Arriscar, buscar e aproveitar as oportunidades é o que vai te tornar uma pessoa sábia. E a sabedoria, definitivamente, não vem da escola.

Algumas coisas só vem com o tempo e a sabedoria é uma delas. Mas não digo a sabedoria de um ancião, mas sim de saber olhar para onde dever olhado. A escola não te ensina potencializar suas chances, ela apenas te ensina algo que todos aprendem e como você vai se destacar aprendo o mesmo que todos? Então é necessário ter essa visão, é necessário entender com a vida funciona e o que é preciso para ter uma vida de sucesso. Mas é claro, eu preciso essa observação final: sucesso não tem nada a ver com o quanto você ganha e nem status social e sabe qual é o verdadeiro sucesso? Isso você terá de descobrir.
