Life and risk—these two words are inseparable. None of us know what awaits us in the next moment, yet we move forward, make decisions, dream. And what we have to do repeatedly on this path of moving forward is to take risks.
I myself am an ordinary person, whose life was not confined to any safe boundaries at all. I saw a decision in my recent life as a risk—which fortunately brought a good result today.
The incident began in mid-2023. I was in a stable job at the time. My income was going well, but my mind was not at all stable. A strange unrest inside, as if I was missing something. At that time, an old desire started to swirl in my head—to start my own small design-based project. The desire to work on something like this had been there for a long time, but fear, uncertainty, and financial insecurity had repeatedly stopped me.
Nevertheless, I decided—this time I would take the risk. Along with my job, I started launching my own small digital design service. I upgraded my laptop with some of my savings, bought software, created a profile on some marketplaces, and edited my old designs. I started putting in a lot of time, stayed up late learning, and did office work during the day. I heard “no” from many clients, and many jobs were simply canceled midway.
It was a kind of mental risk, and it was also a financial burden, because I started this path by breaking my savings. Sometimes I was afraid, what if nothing happens? What if I don’t get anything in return for all this hard work?
But I didn’t lose patience. Time passed, and gradually some clients started coming. I got orders, reviews, and started improving the quality of my work. At one point, that small side project became a source of additional income for me. It’s still not a full-time job, but I realized—if I didn’t take risks, I would never have realized what I could really do.
This experience taught me one thing—not everything comes with a guarantee in life. You have to find some things yourself with courage. Risk does not mean failure, but rather it opens the door to possibilities.
If someone were to ask me today, “Did this decision to take a risk pay off?” — I would say, with my eyes closed, yes. Because the reward is not just money or success, but the belief in yourself, self-confidence, and the courage to start a new chapter in life are the biggest achievements for me.
There are many small risks in our daily lives—taking a bus, choosing a question on an exam, making a new friend, and even telling someone what is on our minds. But sometimes, some big risks can also take our lives in a different direction. So I would say, don’t be afraid to take risks. Yes, there will be fear, there will be the possibility of failure. But if you don’t try, you will never know.
The idea of leaving a well paying job or a business to move into another thing, is a very risky one with a big 'IF'. But when it clicks positively, it brings a big loads of satisfaction
Your comment is truly realistic and inspiring.
It is never easy to decide to leave a secure and comfortable life and start something new. The “big IF” always runs through your mind—what if? What if I fail? But you are absolutely right, when that decision is proven right, the self-satisfaction, pride, and belief in yourself—that really brings a different feeling.
Although this path is risky, once you take the bold step, the meaning of life changes. I completely agree with your perception. Comments like this remind us of one thing—success begins with courage.
Thank you so much for your valuable feedback.
