Mondays should be declared a holiday too.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. While growing up, many of us looked forward to becoming adults. We all wanted to be adults for one reason or another. For me, I wanted to become an adult for so many reasons: first, so I could be free from my strict parents back then; second, so I could go out and come back home whenever I wanted; and third, so I could buy myself whatever I wanted. But I never knew I had to work tirelessly and pass through a lot of stress to get to the point where I could buy myself whatever I wanted.

Not to forget, as kids, we all pray for holidays. Holidays we kids enjoy more than adults, and as kids, we always enjoyed every holiday to the fullest. At least we get to miss school and not see our teachers face, especially the mathematics teacher, but today as adults, every day is work, work, work. Truth be told, at my workplace, we only observe a few holidays, and if left for my boss to decide, we won't even observe any. Sometimes we just prove stubborn and go ahead and observe certain holidays. Now I really do miss the days when I was one of those who enjoyed every holiday.

As kids, many of us did not see the benefits that came with being a kid. You live carelessly while others do the caring; you have little or no problem until you feel hungry. Many of us just looked forward to becoming adults, not knowing it was going to be this hard and difficult. The adults back then bottled everything up and made adulthood look very easy, and we were in a rush to become one. Now what is required of us is killing us. Those days, we pray for a holiday just so we don't get to see our mathematics teacher, but now we look forward to holidays and free moments so we can spend some time with family and friends as work keeps getting in the way.

As workers, we all have days where the workload makes us feel like it is the end of the world. We always pray and wish that day would be declared a holiday. For me, that day is Monday. Every Monday, I undergo so much stress in order to meet the demands of customers far and near. To make things worse, everyone in the company has to multitask. You don't just work in your own department on Mondays; you serve as additional manpower to every other department that needs manpower since I work with the production line and am not always busy.

I work for a sachet water-producing company; we work from Monday to Saturday, and we don't work only on Sundays. Before Monday, all the water produced must have been sold out because customers come with trucks to purchase directly from the company since no one goes for delivery on Sunday. So every Monday, production starts from scratch, and before we can meet demands, we must produce at least 500 bags of water ready for delivery. Running from one end of the company to the other can be really stressful. On other days, my work starts at 8 a.m, but on Mondays, everyone reports to work as early as 6 a.m.

If I want any day to be declared a holiday, it is definitely Monday, one of the most stressful days of the week for me. Sometimes we don't even go for lunch break on Mondays because of the workload, and we, in most cases, close very late on Mondays. Instead of working on Mondays, it should be declared a holiday so I can get to rest and spend time with family and friends.
