The hidden costs of convenience

We all know how much technology has helped us so far in every aspect of life, and there is no doubt about the fact that everyone has benefited from the upgrade technology has brought to us because, one way or the other, people now prefer faster processes than the usual manual ways we all know.

Agriculture is a very powerful and stressful profession, and it requires a lot of energy as well, so I wouldn’t deny the fact that technology has made the work easier for those who are into it, and to top it all, technology helped them a lot to produce faster than before, which made food circulate all around the world. When I was little, I and my siblings always went to the village to help our grandma because she had a big farm and also to bring back some food that would last us for some months.

During that time I realized that farming is not for the weak because you have to use all your energy when you are on the farm.Despite using all our energy to farm back then, we still stay healthy because every food we consume was cultivated through the right processes, and there was nothing like preserving food for decades before the consumption time.

Most of our grandparents aged well before they passed on; at least my grandma was an example to me, and she never complained of any sickness. She never got admitted into the hospital until she couldn’t farm again and began to eat what her children sent to her from the city.

One thing I realized when she stopped farming to eat preserved food was that her health started having some issues, and at first we all thought probably because she was old before she passed on.

It is true that technology helped speed up the farming process, but we can’t deny the fact that it is harmful to our health.I have worked in a factory where they produce instant noodles before, and for some time we made use of raw local chicken fat for the noodles, which made the product unique and delicious. Later some other companies took over, which we don’t have any idea of what happened, and immediately the new company took over; they changed the process of the noodles.Instead of the live chicken fat, they started using processed fat, which was powder that just smelled like a chicken flavor.

The sales dropped, and people started complaining in the market. I was among those people who had to do advertisements for the product to move forward; that was how I got to know the company was having issues with the new process ingredients.

Nothing can be compared to the original process of farming, even though it might be slow, but trust me when I say it will reduce the rate at which people develop health issues here and there.

Even the so-called medicine that is being prescribed in the hospital is no longer safe because of what technology has taken from us; meanwhile, some doctors don’t even know the real source of some people’s illnesses, but because they want to sell their lab experiments, they find names for the sickness and give the patient the drugs as well, and that is why we see a lot of people dying young nowadays.

As much as we enjoy the ease technology has brought to us, we mustn't forget the consequences that come with it.

You just said it as it is sis. Farming manually is not here at all. If you don’t have the energy, you will die of hunger

However, technology made farming so easy but see how we are eating chemicals here and there. I pray God should help us out through the government to research into the proceeds.

Like seriously it is only God that can help us because all this chemicals they use in producing our food is what is affecting people’s health.

The food industry has become the major source of our illnesses. It's harsh to accept but it's the truth. Like you said about your grandparents, people are nowadays not living healthily for too long because they are not actively involved in growing their own food anymore.
You wrote some very good points. We need to find a solution for our future gen.

Yeah most factories now use chemicals to make the foods we eat which there is nothing we can do about it except we want to make our food all by ourselves.

We should work on technology that improves the quality of each crop we produce, because if we just switch to traditional, we will probably be losing on some yield, a significant amount.

Exactly my point and for the sake of our health as well

I liked the phrase that agriculture is not for the weak. You are right. It is hard work. And one of the most unfair things I have seen is the delays in payment to producers by the traders and transporters who buy their goods from them. They don't seem to value their work. Greetings @princess-dara

Yes, there are lots of works people don’t value their efforts and agriculture happens to the one of them because without them there won’t be food for us to eat
