A Homicide Detective?

in Hive Learners7 months ago

I have always wondered if I'd make a great doctor or a great soldier or a great detective and I'll never know unless I choose to take those paths which I'm not all that willing to take.

I am a fan of thriller novels and movies. The kind of novels that involve detectives investigating homicides and taking the reader along as they uncover dark secrets before finally stumbling on the truth and the reason for the homicides. I enjoy them a lot because they're usually fiction and all I have to do is imagine the horror inflicted and it wouldn't have a huge effect on me mentally.

But in reality, being a homicide detective is something I'd never do no matter how attractive the pay is. Not only is it a tasking job which demands absolute attention, it can also lead to some life threatening situations on the part of the homicide detective involved.

The world we live in has a lot of horrors hidden in its deep pockets and each day, human beings devise creative and terrible means to commit murder and sometimes for the silliest things imaginable.

I watch true crime shows from time to time and I can see the effort some individuals put into taking someone else's life and it's quite horrible to witness. Homicide detectives go through a lot because they usually have to deal with gruesome and brutal death scenes which can really mess with one's mental health and then they have to deal with being the harbinger of bad news to the relatives of victims.

It really takes something out of an individual.

I have no bad experience with being a homicide detective but from the true stories that I have seen and heard and read, it's enough to traumatize me for life. Having to deal with gruesome death on an almost daily basis and then having to rack one's brain, spend sleepless nights and devote all of one's time to finding a murderer is going to be too tasking on my mental health and that is how I know that it's not a job for me no matter the pay.

I don't think I can deal with the harsh reality and brutality of murder in society.

There's an episode of true crime that I watched which involves the story of a young man that was arrested for brutally murdering his wife and kids which was a shock to members of his family and his wife's family and their community at large because they had always been the perfect family to the public and the young man seemed like the perfect husband and father but no one knew that there was trouble looming in paradise.

When the police arrived at the scene, I could tell that it was difficult for them to actually study the scene because of how brutal it was and especially when it involved the children. It was really nasty and I am so sure I'd have gone into a coma if I were the first officer to arrive on scene.

After much investigation, the husband was finally caught and arrested and he didn't even fight back because all he did was cry terribly and when interrogated, he confessed to being responsible and his reason was because he couldn't afford to keep up with the family's expenses and because he couldn't take his family along with him since he planned to run away from his responsibilities, he decided murder was the best bet.

Quite the shock, huh?

I really don't know which is scarier, having to deal with gruesome deaths regularly or getting the chilly confessions of the culprits.

That job is for the strong, it really demands a lot. Any job that will pose a threat to my life is a no go area for me.

Thank you!

I think our individual differences come into play here. While some people don't like horror and anything that involves taken another life, but to some people it is not. I like to feature in military attires, weird gun and all. I believe we have just one life to live, so it doesn't matter how it goes. What matters is fulfillment in life.
