The Crucial Role of Infrastructure: A Case Study of My Neighborhood

in Hive Learners4 months ago

Infrastructure plays a huge role in making life comfortable for citizens of a community. When you've got good infrastructure, the quality of life will improve. Take, for instance, a good road that would prevent accidents and also make transport swift, and clean water will reinstate good health in society. The same goes for other infrastructure, like good health systems and the like. However, in this part of the world, it's quite disheartening that the government robs us of most of these infrastructures, and today I'll tell you which one we lack the most in my neighborhood.

A few years ago, if asked this particular question, I would have said what we needed mostly was a good road, because back then most of my neighbors were plagued with bad road infrastructure and almost every road that leads to the neighborhood was in bad shape, but the former governor of the state changed that narrative by investing heavily in that aspect, and surprisingly, a journey via a route that used to take at least two hours now takes less than 30 minutes because the road is better, although I'll still hope they'll fix all the inner roads of each street to perfect the job.

So talking about the major infrastructure we lack the most in my neighborhood, I'll say without excitation that it's stable electricity. Down here in my neighborhood, the state of electricity supply is so strong that in the last month we've not had electricity for a second. That's to show how difficult and ridiculous the situation is down here.

Apparently at first they said the transformer was what has issues, but going round the entire community into other neighborhoods that surround us, I realize none of them are electricity. This is just disgusting, and it makes life difficult for us, the citizens. We're in a generation and a time when most of our tasks and activities are being powered by electricity because we use electricity appliances in our day-to-day activities.

And yet we can't boast of having electricity for just a few seconds in the last forty days; what can be more annoying than that? These kinds of situations can even lead to most of our home appliances getting damaged due to absence of usage, and yet despite how much we cry, nothing is down to turn the situation around and give us stable electricity. Some of our neighboring countries are enjoying 20 hours of electricity, and we are here without electricity for an entire month.

It's seriously not easy, and that's why many people now depend on petrol to fuel their generator so as to power their house with electricity, and this is why the price of petrol keeps increasing. The demand for it is getting more and more by the day, assuming there is electricity and it's stable. Many people won't need petrol, except just to buy in their car and move around, and if the electric vehicle is stable, that won't even be a thing too because we would have seen many people invest in an electric car that'll be more eco-friendly than normal diesel vehicles.

Well, it's not been easy, but I'm at least surviving, all thanks to my solar energy system that helps me generate electricity into my house via the sun. Without this solar system, I'll be at the mercy of my neighbors to charge my device, but all thanks to this solar system, since we've not been having electricity, I hardly feel it because my solar system is being used to charge my device, and I also use it to power the television and entertain myself.

It also serves as a medium via which I light up my house and surroundings and as well power the fan in case of heat, but outside this I wonder how I would have survived without the solar system, but there's still a catch because it can't power devices like hot plates, irons, and washing machines with the solar system, so if at all I want to power those devices, then I'll need to install a more powerful solar system that can supply all of those effectively.

I'm hoping the government will fix the electricity infrastructure of my neighbor so we can have stable electricity or at least for some hours to do basic things around the house, but if they won't be able to do that, then I'll have no choice but to invest in a more efficient solar system in the near future.

Electricity is very important even for a few hours, I hope the government fixes the issue of electricity in your neighborhood.

I hope they do too, because it's important.

Yeah!!! Electricity is life

It's difficult to stay without electricity. I really can't imagine what the many people without solar energy go through in this challenging time
A functional government makes sure that basic infrastructures like this are met for the good living of the masses
It's unfortunate anyways
It is what it is
Hopefully someday, we can be living like our neighboring countries

It's dishearting and we can only hope they do it because all our politicians are all after their stomachs and pockets and nothing else..

I can only imagine what people without solar and generators are going through.

We don't have a very good electricity in Nigeria anymore. All thanks to solar system that has helped alot of us today. Even in my house that is the only source of light for us.
Thanks for sharing

Solar is saving the day and if the government isn't careful, soon everyone will ditch their power supply leaving them with no one to loot from.

I always say that Ghana is suffering but at least we have light. The issue of electricity in Nigeria need to be addressed seriously because from the look of it, the government is not even ready to make things better.

But then, you can also come to Ghana. I have space in my house for you.

Yea the government need to do something about the power supply, but I doubt they'll, we'll all soon invest in solar and abandon their lights.

Maybe then they'll have sense.

But then, you can also come to Ghana. I have space in my house for you.

Hahaha 🤣, give me a minute, let me go and pack my luggages.

Hello there, Vick Sir. Honestly, stable electricity is one thing that we need in my school. Hw do you expect students to cope without stable electricity? Imagine having power just twice in a month. Very bad!

Electricity is become the basic neneed of all of us. Almost all appliances we are using in our homes or offices use the Electricity and I cab not imagine a day without it.
It's very sad that you were not having the electricity for months. On the other hand I may appreciate that you come up with a good solution by installing the Solar Power system. Which is a cleaner way of producing the electricity.

Congratulations @vickoly! You received a personal badge!

You powered-up at least 10 HIVE on Hive Power Up Day!
