The Flowers of Zhongshe Flower Market

I've already posted about Zhongshe Flower Market, but I still have some photos left. It would be a bummer if I won't share them. Zhongshe is actually a flower market and a park at the same time. They sell potted flowers all year round.

At the entrance of the flower market, there's Salvia farinacea (Farina Violet). It's a member of the sage family. I was intrigued by the flower because of its deep violet color. I initially thought it was lavender because the color resembled a lot with lavender. Upon closer inspection, the leaves looked like sage but matted. The leaves are actually glossy. It's good that Google Lens helped a lot with these flowers because it was my first time seeing them.

The two pillars at the entrance were covered with Begonia semperflorens (Topspin Scarlet Begonia). They're petite types of wax begonias. They're called as such because of their waxy leaves. The bright red flowers contrasted well with the green leaves; they're good for covers because of their size.

After the BBQ area, there's a pathway to the park lined with almost all kinds of potted flowers. The most striking ones are the amaryllis.

Amaryllis is actually a genus of bulbous flowering plants, and I'm tired of finding the exact species in the photos above. Plus, with the hybrids, it's a difficult task to determine them. Maybe you know these species or hybrids, so you can comment below.

Other striking flowers in those pots are the lilies.

The one on the right photo is Lilium oriental 'Samantha'. The one on the left is difficult to determine. It might be a regal lily or a hybrid, but I can't really be sure. In fact, I can't be sure of the exact species of all the flowers in this post. I'm no botanist, but I love these flowers.

The last flower in that pathway is the Dutch iris or Iris hollandica. It's actually a hybrid of two iris species. Those in the background are bougainvilleas and some potted bonsais.

Next are the flowers at the park itself. You can click the link above for most of the photos, but I'll share here some flowers that I haven't shared in that post.

I had difficulty identifying these flowers, but upon closer look, they might be cineraria. These small herbaceous plants are in the daisy family and grow in various colors.

On the adjacent bed is the orange marigold or Tagetes erecta. The field with a wooden piano in the previous is still marigold, but they're yellow in color. They're also part of the daisy family.

Next, we have many beds of different colors of Gerbera daisies. I think the beds in that area of the farm are dedicated to the daisy, aster, or sunflower family.

Of course, the most famous dried flower is also part of the aster family: the strawflower. Its name comes from the straw-like bracts, and it retains its color and texture even after drying.

I'm not sure if the arches above are also petunias, but the two photos below that are petunias. They have very colorful yet delicate flowers.

They also have a part dedicated to Oncidium hybrid. They're golden-yellow orchids.

Another bed is for yellow calla lilies. They belong to the aroid family and are very easy to cultivate. I love these plants.

Aside from the pathway where a few potted Dutch irises are located, they also have a dedicated area for irises. Those deep violet flowers are a marvel.

I already shared some photos of spiny spiderflowers in the previous post, but those rows upon rows of pinks and greens are too good not to share again. Their scientific name is Cleome spinosa.

Of course, the last part is for the bed of tulips.

I wouldn't dare to name the different species and hybrids of tulips, as the Dutch would kill me for butchering their prized flowers. Did you know tulips were once used as a currency? Yeah, crazy like crypto.
