Haha...I believe that you're referring to the photo of a hala/screw pine - Pandanus tectorius trunk. They are lovely, curious trees, and they're very common here! 😁 πŸ™ πŸ’š ✨ πŸ€™

It is strange that this tree is called a pine, it is evergreen, but I don’t see anything to do with pines, but, you found a way to close the issue with the Christmas tree on a tropical island :)

Yes, this is the problem with vernacular names, as they are very ambiguous indeed. One common name can refer to many different plants, or one plant can have many different common names. Hala is not closely related to pines. The most used trees here for Christmas trees are usually Araucaria columnaris or Araucaria heterophylla. 😁 πŸ™ πŸ’š ✨ πŸ€™

But, you tell the local natives that the Christmas tree is a pagan symbol, palm branches are enough, as it was in Jerusalem on the birthday of Jesus Christ :)

Well, we definitely have an abundance of palm fronds here, of all sorts! 😁 πŸ™ πŸ’š ✨ πŸ€™

Then you have Christmas there every day :)

Yep, pretty much. 😁 πŸ™ πŸ’š ✨ πŸ€™

You save a lot on garlands, creepers are everywhere in the jungle :)
