Clearing the head
There is something about forests and mountain tops which have always had a calming and soothing impact on me.
Life is busy.
We are bombarded with information everywhere we look. Billboards. Television. Social Media. Everywhere we look, someone is trying to sell us something material. Others are trying to sell us a better version of ourselves.
If you buy this you'll be happy.
If you do this you'll be content.
If you follow this six step plan, you'll become a millionaire. Just sign up for €25 and you'll get the plan (ah so you'll become a millionaire first)
I find the best way to get away from all of this noise is to have a walk in my forest or hike up a mountain.
Either one seems to work wonders for my mental health.
Anything that was bothering me seems to melt away.
It's especially true when I visit my forest, as each visit I will bring my saw and cut back the low lying branches to make pathways like the one in the first photo below.
The forest canopy overhead means that not much life is sustained below, as the light required for photosynthesis is absent.
Each time I thin those low lying branches, more light gets through and life flourishes, which is a joy to observe each time I return.
Below you'll see some of the life that has sprung forth.
Moss, plants and greenery in abundance.
I have limited myself to these four shots, as sometimes less is more. Hopefully you enjoy the greenery, as I know many countries are arid and dry, so this greenery and growth is pleasing to the eye for people from warmer climes.
I'll leave you with this solitary pine cone.
I guess in some sense, we are all solitary pine cones, alone with our deepest thoughts.
Yes, most of us have friends, family and loved ones around us to support and listen to us, but we alone hear all our own thoughts, ideas and dreams.
We share some of ourselves, but I don't think anybody shares everything.
I totally agree with you walks in forests surrounde dby nature are the best for us, the world is crazy and we just need to get away from it all sometimes
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk
Have a great day
Thanks Jay, ya any time spent in nature always seems to renew me and recharge me somehow. I'm lucky to live in the countryside, so nature is literally on my doorstep 🙏
Forests walk do indeed have a therapeutic way on the mind with great declogging abilities too.
Greetings
Thanks Becky, yes, well said and thanks for dropping by
You're welcome
Forest and beach walks very rewarding, mysteries of the forest is a passion allowing ones mind to roam, on the beach one let's go to the beat of pounding sea along a shoreline.
Symbol of lonely pine cone, does gives meaning to people close, no one ever knows our inner-self fully.

Yes Joan, I'd forgotten about beach walks. These are among my favourites too. Especially when I get to have a dip or a surf too.
Thanks for the commentary on the lonely pine cone too, hope all is well your side and you have a wonderful Christmas with your family.
Walks along a beach in our winter months nothing to beat this, mountains during shoulder seasons was a must every year never knowing what one could expect.
Have a wonderful Christmas celebrating with family and friends, time to unwind!
These photos instantly lift my mood.
I haven't seen pine cone in ages, and you've captured it so well:)
Happy Wednesday!
Nice one Milly. Job done so, as I hear that these photos lifted your mood 🙌
There is so much beauty in the banal if we allow ourselves the time to see it.
