Small Trail Around a Wild Beach with Two Giant Offshore Rocks🌴🌊 [ENG-ESP]

A few kilometers away from Playa de Castro: A Lovely Black Sand Beach you Must Visit this Summer in Tenerife🌴🌊, is another much more inhospitable and remote beach, called Playa de Los Roques. Continuing with this series of 3 posts dedicated to the area of Rambla de Castro, located in Los Realejos, Tenerife, we will now focus on a small trail that surrounds this beach with two giant rocks.

Continuando con esta serie de 3 publicaciones dedicadas a la zona de Rambla de Castro, ubicada en Los Realejos, Tenerife, ahora nos centraremos en un pequeño sendero que rodea esta playa con dos roques gigantes.

The first post in this series focused on the Rambla de Castro: One of My Favorite Trails in Tenerife🌴🌊🚶‍♂️. This trail connects both beaches, in a route that takes about an hour and a half. This trail ends when you reach a small village of the place, but after briefly crossing the streets of the place, you quickly reach a viewpoint from which you can see from above these two imposing rocks and the beach of the black area. I did this hike in August of the previous year when the summer temperatures were not so high.

La primera publicación de esta serie se centró en el Sendero de Rambla de Castro: One of My Favorite Trails in Tenerife🌴🌊🚶‍♂️. Este sendero conecta ambas playas, en un recorrido que se realiza en alrededor de hora y media. Este sendero termina al llegar a una pequeña población del lugar, pero tras atravesar brevemente las calles del lugar, se llega rápidamente a un mirador desde el cual se puede apreciar desde arriba estos dos imponentes roques y la playa de area negra. Este recorrido lo realicé en agosto del año anterior, cuando las temperaturas dle verano no eran tan altas.

From the viewpoint of the rocks begins a small path downhill, on a stone path, which reaches one end of the beach, on a small peninsula or rocky point. The path is quite pleasant, with some vegetation and views of the beach from above. This trail splits in two at a certain point, creating a circular route around the site. There is a section of this trail where you pass under a tall, small stone structure, perhaps a water channel, on which there is a sign warning of possible rock collapses. From another viewpoint on the site, there are very impressive views of the beach, and you can even see people who perhaps should not be bathing there.

Desde el mirador de los roques inicia un pequeño sendero en bajada, en un camino de piedra, que llega hasta uno de los extremos de la playa, en una pequeña península o punta rocosa. El camino es bastante agradable, con cierta vegetación y vistas hacia la playa desde arriba. Este recorrido se divide en dos en cieto punto, creando una ruta circular que rodea el lugar. Hay una seccion de este camino en donde se pasa por debajo de una altgua y pequeña estructura de piedra, quizás un canal de agua, en la cual hay un cartel que alerta de posibles derrumbes de piedra. Desde otro mirador que se encuentra en el lugar se tienen vistas de la playa muy impresionantes, y puedes apreciar incluso personas que quizás no deberían bañarse allí.

Now, going around this rocky point, the return path runs between stone walls and passes again under the old stone bridge.

Si miras más allá, en el horizonte, puedes apreciar a no muy larga distancia la ciudad de Puerto de La Cruz, y un poco mas cerca, la zona de Punta Brava, en la cual estuve anteriormente y realicé una publicación sobre el lugar. Mediante mis publcaciones en mi blog de Hive ya he cubierto buena parte del litoral alredededor de la ciudad de Puerto de La Cruz. Ahora, rodeando esta punta rocosa, el camino de retorno transcurre entre paredes de piedra y vuelve a pasar debajo del puente antiguo de piedra.

Now, after having had a beautiful side view of the beach, it was time to return to the top, where the initial viewpoint is located, and follow the path of the trail until you reach the other end of the beach of the rocks. On this path, the trail crosses part of the village and also runs right next to a banana plantation. While perhaps this part of the trail is not very well marked, it is very scenic at the same time, and reminded me a lot of Venezuela, especially some areas of Aragua State where there are also many banana plantations. I think I should have taken pictures of this section to appreciate it better.

Ahora, tras haber tenido una hermosa vista lateral de la playa, correspondía regresar hasta arriba, en donde se encuentra el mirador inicial, y seguir el camino del sendero hasta llegar al otro extremo de la playa de los roques. En este camino, el sendero atravesa parte del pueblo y también trnascurre justo al lado de una plantación de plátanos. Si bien quizás esta parte del sendero no está muy bien sañalizada que digamos, es muy pintoresca al mismo tiempo, y me recordó mucho a Venezuela, especialmente a algunas zonas del Estado Aragua en donde también hay muchas plantaciones de plátano. Creo que debí haber tomado fotografías de esta sección para poder apreciarlo mejor.

The road was starting to become a little "less touristy" and with the tiredness of having walked for almost 3 hours the Castro Beach and the Rambla de Castro trail, I thought about taking another path to return home, but finally decided to continue to the other end of the beach to finish the tour and get better views from there. From this other end of the beach, there is another viewpoint with better views, since it is closer to the beach. From there you could appreciate the sand and the waves much better. Finally, a small staircase connects the path with a parking lot of a residential complex of buildings that can be seen from the other end of the beach. And there, ended the tour of that day along the coastline of northern Tenerife.

El camino empezaba a tornarse un poco "menos turístico" y con el cansancio de haber recorrido durante casi 3 horas la Playa de Castro y el sendero de Rambla de Castro, pensé en tomar otro camino para regresar a casa, pero finalmente decidí seguir hacia el otro extremo de la playa para finalizar el recorrido y obtener desde allí mejores vistas. Desde este otro extremo de la playa hay otro mirador con mejores vistas, ya que se encuentra más cercano a la playa. Desde allí se podía apreciar mucho mejor la arena y las olas. Finalmente, una pequeña escalera conecta el sendero con un estacionamiento de un conjunto residencial de edificios que se puede apreciar desde el otro extremo de la playa. Y allí, terminó el recorrido de ese día por el litoral del norte de Tenerife.

There is a road that connects this last viewpoint with the beach. As you can see in the image above, there is a sign indicating that access to this road and Los Roques Beach is prohibited. As you can see, some people may have ignored or not read the warning. While being on the sand may not be dangerous, the sea should not be underestimated on wild beaches like this one, especially having these large rocks so close. There is one detail that I only noticed while editing this post, and that is that in the first pictures, the surf is calm and the tide is out. About 20 minutes later, in the photographs of the last viewpoint, the waves now come to cover the entire sandy area, forcing people to move. There is a couple that seems to be looking at the ground lamenting that the waves took their things (maybe it is my perception).

Existe un camino que conecta este último mirador con la playa. Tal como lo vez en la imagen de arriba, hay un cartel que indica que está prohibido el acceso a dicho camino y a la playa de los roques. Tal como puedes ver, algunas personas quizás hicieron caso omiso o no leyeron la advertencia. Si bien estar en la arena puede que no sea peligroso, no se debe subestimar el mar en playas salvajes como esta, sobre todo teniendo estas grandes rocas tan cerca. De hecho, hay un detalle del que sólo me percaté al editar esta publicación, y es que en las primeras fotografías, el oleaje está tranquilo y la marea baja. Alrededor de 20 minutos después, en las fotografías del último mirador, las olas ahora llegan a cubrir toda la zona de la arena, obligando a las personas a moverse. Hay una pareja que parece estar viendo al suelo lamentándose que las olas se llevaran sus cosas (quizás sea mi percepción).
