Hello, community and friends greetings. Last time we walked in the small forest and we ended up by the roadside fields.

we followed the road towards Larvik and in between, we had to cross the river Lågan. It was a special way the Norwegian architect built this bridge, It looks very simple but the footpath on the side is made of steel grates so we can look down and see underneath the bridge while crossing the river.
We parked our car in the parking lot. and used this steel footbridge to cross the river. It is strong and well-protected so people do not get hurt. Even somebody can cycle or run on it.
While walking along the bridge I took this river shot. I noticed some people enjoy fishing salmon from the river bank. Here we need a license to fish in the rivers and lakes but not the sea.
These photos were taken from the bridge
This is the south side. after crossing the river I took some photos of the bridge with an empty road.
on this side, there is a small trail to come down to the river bank. behind the bridge is a parking lot, with picnic tables a food truck, and parking for fishermen and -women.
this rotten mushroom was the only one we found
Those wooden structures are used for a special fish trapping technique that is only allowed in the middle of July. it catches all the fish that jump the rapids so in order to keep a thriving salmon population it is strictly limited- The fishing organization arranges the event and the freshly caught salmon are auctioned off to the public on the spot.
crossing over the rushing white water on these round slippery logs is thrilling enough but they lead out to a small island where you can get very close to the rapids. so it is worth the risk.
when the fish traps are in place on the left they block the entire section of the river and the fish have no chance of escape
Here is what these traps look like but they are not installed.
Some more details. a few weeks later we went to another place along the river. there I met the committee leader and he invited me to come when the trapping is arranged in July.
I want to see it in action and when I get the chance I will post about it next summer.
I was studying all the details meanwhile my husband was already on the rocks at the river's edge.
looking up from underneath the bridge
many enthusiastic fishermen come from far-off places to have a go at catching the salmon. I don't know how successful they are but even if they don't catch any it is nice to be so close to the river rap
Thank you for stopping by and thank you @tattoodjay for the weekly challenge to the #Wednesdaywalk community.
