Peace is expensive now. If you live in a country where there is no war, then you are a rich person!
Everything is only getting worse in Ukraine... The massive Russian attack on several cities of our country on July 8, 2024 resulted in the death of over forty people (42 at the time of writing) and about 200 wounded. The attack on a children's hospital in Kyiv shocked society the most. Remember this. Trouble continues...

Railway station

That is why I had a long-standing small dream to walk through the town of neighboring peaceful Poland. To stay for a while where enemy planes don't fly...
Przemyśl became the gateway to a peaceful life for thousands of Ukrainian refugees at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Even now, the Ukrainian language can be heard everywhere at the station.
I periodically visit here, transporting homeless animals from Ukraine for which Polish volunteers are looking for a home. But for various reasons there is no time to go for a walk...

Historical buildings of the XIX-XX centuries.

Here is the time. True, I was tired because of an almost sleepless night and the insane heat of 35+ (in our climate, where there is high humidity, it is difficult to survive such a temperature).
We traveled for more than 3.5 hours in a hot train, so I decided that a walk is a better idea than returning immediately in the same hot transport.

The plan was at least to see the San River, which flows through this small town. The river beckoned me with its coolness... The clouds did not bring any relief, but on the contrary created the effect of a sauna.
I walked through the streets of the ancient city, which, like two drops of water, is similar to the small towns of my region and my country.

Some amazing details...

The plain slow river, green grass and colorful houses on the embankment were pleasing to the eye. Finally, a pleasant breeze appeared on the bridge. Resting in the shade above the river is what I need!!! To do this, I decided to go down under the bridge to get closer to the water.

I just listened to river's speech, looked into the distance, looked at bridges and houses... I wanted to sit here as long as possible.
But it's so interesting to see something else! There are beautiful temples in the city, the tops of which can be seen from the embankment...

Przemyśl is a town on the hills. It is interesting to the eye. For photography. Well, it's also useful for the feet:)

It seems that there was some kind of holiday in the center. Music was playing. They sold cradles, some wicker baskets and other handmade items.
I had an interesting feeling... I am probably the only Ukrainian tourist here. Our people come here in order to go further, to the depths of the country... Instead, I saw local residents on the square now. There were many older people and children.

On the main square.

Climbing the steep stairs, I found myself in the small courtyard of the ancient church, which is the main cathedral of the Roman Catholic parish. It's very old, beautiful both outside and in the interior. It is nice to sit in the dark and cool and look at marble sculptures or paintings... I have too many photos, so I will write a separate post about the architecture of the temples!

The cathedral of the Greek Catholics (mainly the Ukrainian diaspora) stands majestically not far away, also on the hill. The high church is surrounded by sculptures and from the stairs you can admire the neighboring streets. But it is not easy to take a photo, the building is too dense...

I heard ancient music coming from the square.
Suddenly I noticed a procession at the end of the alley ladies and gentlemen, dressed in 19th-century clothes, walked solemnly somewhere, as if lost in time.

Unfortunately, I was limited in time, so I had to go down through the street, where I looked at another ancient temple, which is essentially a twin of the previous one! This is the first time I see this... Two buildings were built somewhere in the middle of the 18th century, in the Baroque style, on the site of older buildings. But now it's hard to say who was the first and why are they so similar?:)

Great luxury interior!

I was already running to transport to cross the border and get home...
And now I came across a beautiful tower! It used to be a bell tower of a church, but now it is a museum of the pipes and bells. You can also climb the tower and see the views of the city. Another time...

In the center of a small square, a fountain hummed merrily and here I met "people from the past" for the second time. It seems that people are also dancing in the fountain in this photo! Did you notice it?

Well, that was my first acquaintance with Przemyśl. Do I want to come back? Yes, to visit some museums, to see the city from the inside.

Thanks for the walk together!
