The dove had been stuck on that tombstone for a long time. It was white, but moss had already found its home in the folds of her feathers due to her stillness. Perhaps if she moved her wings a bit and flew towards the sky, or at least to another tombstone, it would feel again pure white and light, free...?
That day, that is exactly what she did in the end. The dove decided to fly through the cemetery and guide us for this Wednesday Walk post.

Her first destination was the tower built of yellow bricks at the entrance of the cemetery. It was a visit to the stork's nest which rises on top of the roof of the tower. With that good visibility the high construction provides, it is not wonder that the family of Mr Stork chose this spot for their summer home many years ago. They like it so much that every spring he and his family come back to spend here some months.
That day when the white dove was taking us on this cemetery walk, the nest was empty. I guess the stork family was flying around the same place by the river where one Hiver and her niece had a bike ride in one summer afternoon.

We didn't have that much time to wait for the storks to return home... What if the dark cloak of evening covered us while we waited? Nothing, nothing would happen but the dove wouldn't fly anymore and we wouldn't continue our Wednesday Walk either.
Taking a different direction, towards the interior of the municipal cemetery, which is not the same one as the cemetery seen here, we reached our next stop. The Weindl family mausoleum. I don't know the particular history of this family, but they must have been an affluent family from this town. As it was the case with many other German families, they had their own mausoleum.

The white dove needed to rest quite often in her flight, so the next stop was the crypt of Wiola family, not so far from the previous stop. However, I have always been a little scared by those details on the facade of this crypt, the skulls and the bones...

Perhaps our winged guide sensed this, so we quickly moved on to the next tombstone, that of the Dombovits family. Here you can feel safe and calm. It is located almost in the central part of the cemetery, next to the path that leads to the largest monument of this peaceful place.

The path, a bit cracked and challenging for us who use our feet to walk though the cemetery, but of no importance to our white dove guiding us. In the blink of an eye, we were standing in front of the mausoleum that all the inhabitants of this town know. The Mausoleum of Ferdinand Speiser and his family.

The dark marble construction maybe wouldn't be so impressive without its upper part, the bronze composition which represents the Pietà scene.

The focus of this composition is the Blessed Virgin Mary holding the lifeless body of Jesus Christ in her arms. Above them, there are two female figures and an angel. A beutiful and astonishing composition, though it is a pity that grass grows among the black marble stones.

I stood in front of this monument for a while until I noticed that the white dove had disappeared. Well, she flew back to her tombstone, to take care of it as a peaceful guardian. And what about us? Should we finish this Wednesday walk then?
I think this is what will happen.

😇 Thank you
Hey @mipiano you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
Love how you started with the dove and wove it into the story as you shared your walk made for such a cool read
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk
Have a great day
Thank you very much, @tattoodjay, I am glad you liked the way how the walk was presented. And also, thank you for the Wednesday Walk community 🙏
👍🙂👍
The photos along with the description give a feeling of the place as if we were really walking there.
I am glad to hear you found it that way :)
Bedankt :)
You know, I'm fascinated by cemeteries, so this walk has been wonderful. White pigeons are messengers, and even if you don't see them, they're there. They carry messages from people who have passed away.
The layout reminded me so much of the cemetery in my hometown... so much! Your post today gave me peace. Everyone rests there. Thank you!
And thank you! My grandparents and great-grandparents rest here in this cemetery, that's why I come here every year, apart from being a nice cemetery to walk among the tombstones.
🕊
I love it!!!! They rest in peace, I assure you.
I've been thinking of taking a walk through the cemetery in Vigo but my husband thinks it's a bit unlucky or pavoso as we say where I come from! 😁
Anyway, if I get the courage at some point I will go alone or I will tell a friend, although I don't think it is a good idea to invite a friend to the cemetery.
I loved the story you told with the pigeon as the main character. You have a good imagination for creating stories.
Have a nice day!
Hey there @mballesteros, glad to hear from you, I hope your husband is recovering well :))
Hahaha, inviting a friend to a cemetery walk can sound a bit strange, right? 😆 But I don't see any problems walking among tombstones.
I visit this particular cemetery every summer when I am visiting my family - I go with my mom to see and work around the graves of my great-grandparents and grandparents.
Thank you very much @mballesteros. Actually, the inspiration and ability to write is sometimes as silent and heavy as the stone dove. Sometimes it becomes mossy hahaha 😆
My husband is recovering well, at least I hope so because with the headaches that persist daily I could say that his recovery is very slow. He soon has an appointment with the neurosurgeon who operated on him, I hope he will help him mitigate those pains. Thanks for asking.
I think mine is always heavier than all those graves! 😂
What a lovely peaceful walk through the cemetery @mipiano. Some very grand tombstones. there. I find cemeteries fascinating, always wonder about the lives the people led.
Thank you @lizelle, this was the style here when the tombstones and the mausoleums were made. I go there with my mother when I am visiting them; many of the families we (or the older members of my family) knew, it is like remembering those people or the stories about them at least once a year.
It's a lovely way of 'paying respect' and remembering the people who were laid to rest there.
How times have changed!
The white dove flew too far to be a dove 😂 We all know that doves are known for being somewhat lazy and not flying very far haha so that day it was quite willing to give you a tour, but the time came for it to return to its tombstone, perhaps waiting for the next visitors to give another tour 🐦
I was really grateful to that dove that it was our guide, but I would gladly see Buhito as well, in such a role of the guide. 😉 At any place, not just in a cemetery ;p
It made us dive into the world of imagination and how to blend reality and imagination wonderfully. There is no doubt that the white dove is the embodiment of every pure spirit of peace that exists within us.
Hmm, this is cool to think about it in this way 🕊
First, your cemetery compared to this place is beautiful. I have always been in awe of the use of tiles and organized structures when it comes to cemeteries in the western world.
That and the buildings that always carry so much history. Some dating back to hundreds of years with beautiful artistry and architecture. Thanks to the lovely guide, the Dove, I got to feast my eyes.
Thanks for coming along. Cemeteries are different in many places. I personally like these ones with the impressive mausoleums and tombstones, but every grave in this world has to be respected.
Cemetery, a place where a person (while still alive) can feel peace and tranquility 🙂 I also visited a cemetery, which I have been planning for years, I will write about in a future post. Maybe it would be interesting to start a community, cemeteries in your city?
I am looking forward to seeing that post of yours then.
About a community... not a bad idea at all, I am sure you would run that community well. I found actually a community now https://peakd.com/c/hive-116770/created, but it was just created as you can also see. So, go for it, it would be cool and I know there are people here at Hive that also like visiting cemeteries.
Btw, I already posted both cemeteries from my hometown hahaha, and here in Spain the cemeteries I saw are a bit different, I didn't connect with them, so unfortunately from me there would not be new material for that idea right now.
Beautiful buildings and structures.
Thank you
I’m always left utterly astonished by the architectural flair of storks… if they flew all the way to that land where summer was ever so forgetful, haha… I only hope they had the sense to find their way back to their nest again. ;) I know your ancestors rest here; it must have been quite a moving walk. Thanks ever so much for taking us there.
Las palomas blancas son las mejores guías. 😇
But I didn't manage to take any photos of them during the whole stay there. 🤷♀😅
