One of the last walks with Amos

in Wednesday Walk3 days ago (edited)

Amos is my aunt's and uncle's dog, but in a way, he was my first dog. I wanted a dog all my life, so I was thrilled when they decided to get one, and it was Amos. The best dog in the world, as I would often tell him. But Amos has more than 13 years now, and for a labrador he is in his very old age, and in a bad condition. Almost not recognizable anymore. I am thinking of him each day, so I realized, I will not take him to a walk ever again. He is still mobile, but he just gets outside, and around the garden. As I would often doggy sit him for a few hours, I would also take him to the walk at that time. Now I am sad I didn't take better photos at the time, but I do remember the walk very well.

Near his home there are great spots to talk walk. First the pine tree woods, and then the river is also near, so there is great rampart for walk near it. As soon as we got to the streets, the neighbor dog Medo joined us. He is known to be let free and go in the walks with others, so I was happy that he would make us company.

Although pine tree woods and park are nice, we wanted to go for a longer walk, and soon we were off the road and going over the ramparts. There were a lot of interesting things there, a football field, some secret passages we discovered and a lot of free space with no people which was perfect for us. But we wanted to continue, and Medo left us somewhere in between.

We went over the bridge and river, to the other side and very end of the ramparts.

There I took some photos of dandelions. Also during walk I was in search for interesing flowers or plants, but there was none, just some snails.

It was already getting darker and it was time to go back.

Amos is very old and not in good condition now, he will probably have to be put
to sleep now, but that decition is so hard. It is in human nature to be selfish I guess, I know he is far from the dog he was, but I can't get over him passing. I wish he would go his own way, it would be easier for everyone. Either way, it is going to be very painful for all humans that he knew, including me.
