You might as well call it the dodgy one. I just put it in a diplomatic way on the title just to pepper things with some discreet humour.
At the West suburb of Athens named Egaleo I wasn't around to do any favour to my eyes but to my teeth as I was looking for a dentist suggested by a friend of mine, also doctor. The answer why my eyes would never thank me for this is here:
Begs the question why any space like this could be treated like that but to be fair to any "Egaleo" it's not just a local trend. Though we're ding better lately here in Greece there's still a lot of twisted mentality according to which we keep our houses and cars clean and the public places far from clean (shall I become a diplomat? Let me know in the comments🙂).
I mean, yes, someone just had lunch and casually light hearted left behind this mess:
So what happens when people in this neighbourhood try to beautify things? Well, brace yourself cause I've got something you probably neither have seen before nor expect to see. Have a look:
What's your first though about the use of that building? Anything but residential right? Well, believe it or not, it is!
An absolute WTF. Not only this guy felt obliged to build the whole thing in his own taste of respecting the ancient Hellenic heritage (I can hear our ancestors rolling in their graves) but also made things more than clear on what this is all about with writings on the walls of the ground floor:
With this WTF still intense and fresh in my head just a couple of steps away I find this one:
Now you can easily guess it's either the same guy or his whole family has moved here leaving their obvious footprint in the area including this kinky bit:
And some lions of course:
Here is the whole thing from one more angle:
At this point I need the feel to counterweight this monstrosity a bit so here's some much more humble and sane attempts to beautify this place:
Though, as usual, nature tends to apply a pretty touch to the city's concrete jungle:
Even on metal parts:
Yep, that's a manhole cover in case you didn't identify it at first glance:
On the other hand I have no idea what short of touch made the rear end of this van with this funny "ZZZ" plate end up looking like this:
That's it with today's walk, see you on the next one :)
Great pics.
The building, from some angles, especially the corner photo, reminds me a lot of the architecture you might find in Louisiana or Mississippi...
Somewhere in the American deep South with maybe a Cajun feel.
Re: the litter...
As a race, we genuinely enjoy beauty over ugliness, and it seems so contradictory that someone may comment on a lovely scene on the one hand, while dumping litter with the other...
We have the same here.
I used to walk over some hills and farmland here, and more often than not, they were strewn with garbage.
So much so that I took to walking with a carrier bag, picking up litter as I went..
Couldn't stand to see such beauty abused.
Good post.
It's an oasis to read comments like yours cause not only you read the whole thing but also resonated with it. Congrats for your act against litter, I'm glad we're on the same page on this. Thanks for stopping by!
I hope it went well at the Dentist and Drs,
I get so annoyed when I see people mess up an area leaving trash like thta
And that house Hmm, OK i may not be as diplomatic as you and will say a bit over the top, but I guess if one was coming back home drunk you would not confuse any other house with yours LOL
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk, its my pleasure to host it and see all the posts each week from all around the world, including yours, if you have time visit some of the other walks this week there are so many interesting ones
All good with the dentist - thanks for your concern!
Haha, definitely that's a way to avoid people mistaking your place for another one though not the most elegant one :)
Thanks for your support 🙏- I'm looking at other walks too.

The truth is that I believed the title and when I saw the photo I said "This can't be true, it's beautiful", hahaha.
I liked the photos and without a doubt everything you say about this pollution is true, in my town unfortunately they burn the trees in the fields in fact I have a Post about this, and since I mention it there, I feel they should to stop pushing and destroying our mother nature, global warming, and marine animals. Because although many do not believe it, with just a piece of garbage that you vote for, you are already contaminating, and it is something that I do not know where people who continue to do it day by day fit at an age, the truth is a shame. 😪
What great photos, I loved them, on the other hand, I hope your appointment with the dentist went very well and those teeth 😉 I think I also need to book an appointment. 🤭
Very good post, see you soon! 👋🏼
Thanks for your nice comment Eduardo and your concern. All good with the dentist, I take good care of my teeth. Hope your visit goes fine as well. I've visited Spain many times, most of them on my motorcycle but haven't been to your town. Here the state encourages financially the farmers to buy wood chippers/shredders so that instead of burning the leftovers from trimming the trees and weed to make fertilisers for the soil instead. It's a much more efficient approach, hope more will do so in the future.
O si!, que bueno que en tu ciudad si lo hacen, aquí nos hace falta, yo también espero que en un futuro lo podamos tener para que no nos sigan sucediendo varias cosas. 😪
