Night Walking

in Wednesday Walklast year

I've recently started taking night/morning walks, early 3-4am walks, due to jet lag. I have to say I'm loving the solace and different perspective it gives in a mega metropolis.

I see things differently than evening trekking through the city. I think it's due to my mind being a blank slate, rather than having a full day of work and activity loaded up as I would have in the evening.

Yesterday morning it seemed everywhere I looked there was something different to take a picture of. I'm sure that is in part to just coming from 2 months in the USA. I tried to get photos of things that many people would find familiar, but still alien, like this 7-11.

The full moon added a great accent to everything.

And if you saw my post yesterday, just past the 7-11 is where I found the shades.

After finding those I decided to turn around and head down to the train station. Looking down towards the station.

Looking uphill opposite the train station. I remember 20 years ago when the mansion on the right was built. Time flies!

A seafood shop across the street.

A block down the hill there are stairs that lead to somewhere I'll visit someday....

A bit further down the hill is an architect's office, Morys, built on a tiny plot of land against the hillside.

Getting to the bottom of the hill a mansion's(Condo) stairway caught my attention.

But so did an empty Jolly Pasta right next door.

Open from 11am to midnight.

The moon began to set which was my cue to head home.

There were a few more things to see though.

Crossing the bridge to the station.

The station lies ahead.

Closer.

Another 10 minutes and my 1.5hr walk is almost complete as the sun begins to rise.

Home in time to post and then get breakfast going. I look forward to these walks now, but I know once my jetlag is gone so will waking up early enough to take them. I guess that is part of their allure though, fleeting.

Thanks for reading!

I to love morning walks for the same reason, the mind is clear, not many people are about and it has a peaceful feel even in a busy during the day area

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

It will be interesting to see if I have the same experience when the sun begins to rise at 4am here.

Well, the sun is coming up earlier and earlier. Soon it will be dawn at 4 a.m. Just keep getting up with the sun. 😉

Ya I know. It's crazy how early the sun gets up here in the summer, but I'm usually never up that early to know.

There’s good light at that time, and a lot of interesting things to see.

Great shots, my man. Reminds me of back before I had kids, I would go on walks all night, and keep going the next day. So many interesting things to see and explore. Even now, 20 years on, I still feel the same way.

I still go on walks at night, but they usually involve a stop somewhere to grab a beer, then going home because the kids will be up early. Ah life.

Hope you get over your jetlag soon. But enjoy the early morning walks as long as they last.

Thanks. Something was wrong with my phone, like moisture in the air or something. I really need an entry level DSLR or equivalent.

So you and I have been here for about the same amount of time. And in all of those years, ya, there is still new stuff to see and do. Or just looking at places you've been from a different perspecitve. I often find myself looking back. It's something I never really remember doing in the past. It was always go forward on a familiar route.

I just got back from a 10km walk to Shibuya. I walked through a neighborhood I have never been in and it was like discovering the city all over again.

As long as I get the kids off to school and cook dinner the Mrs. doesn't care where and when I go. I got lucky.

Or just looking at places you've been from a different perspecitve.

I think that's it. I've probably seen it all over the years. Hell, there are probably some things here I've seen even more than anything back home. But the more I learn about Japanese culture, the longer I'm here, it alters my perspective and I start to see everything differently. Maybe that's why it all remains so interesting.

That's a good point. The longer we are here, the more we learn, our perspective of things changes.

Before I was also up at these hours because I do my grocery shopping at 2 or 3 AM.
Lately, I've been sleeping and no grocery shopping. 😂

So the only shop opened at that time was the 7-11 and Lawson?
I don't see gyudon stores like sukiya in the photos, maybe not there?

There is a Sukiya at the roundabout next to the station, but I didn't take any pictures on that side. Lawson and 7-11 were the only places open, which works for me. I just need a coffee as I walk. Ok, maybe a donut too.

It's nice to be out in a super city when no one else is. Almost Night of The Comet vibes.

nice night walk in the city you have there. the street look empty despite it is in the city. My boos used to wale up really early on spring or summer. Like 3/4 he is out with his tractor. hahah

Thanks. Thank god for farmers. I know how hard they work.

When I was still living alone, I would often go out at night. But after I moved in with my sister, I no longer went out at night. My sister doesn't allow me to go out at night because there is a lot of crime at night.
