Wednesday Walk - Botanic Garden

Here is a walk inside a botanical garden/aviary for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

This is Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison Wisconsin.

We were taking a road trip back from a cabin in rural Wisconsin and decided to visit this along the way back to Illinois.

Turns out it was a good pick because it was downpouring outside, so we entered into the aviary and it was even more hot and humid inside lol. I'm surprised these orchids were blooming under these conditions.

1000000716.jpg
They had many jungle plants as well as various birds well hidden in all the foliage.

1000000715.jpg
I wasn't able to get any shots of the the quail and other nectar eating birds but these large blooms were easy to get.

1000000725.jpg
My daughter really enjoyed seeing bananas (plantains) growing on a real tree.

1000000717.jpg
It was quite the jungle in here, lots of things always blooming. I suspect they might transplant some things here from other places to keep everything blooming.

1000000735.jpg
Plenty of orchids and factoids about them. This one is called Odontocidium catatante, thankfully I took a picture of the label to even remember that name lol.

1000000708.jpg
Yet more orchids. Sadly none of them had scent like the chocolate orchids. This one is called Doritis pulcherrima.

1000000719.jpg
This strange thing is called Torch Ginger from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

1000000704.jpg
This is probably some sort of monstera with massive leaves.

1000000723.jpg
This garden has multiple levels too, you can look down and see some random birds flying around if you're lucky.

1000000712.jpg
They even have a man-made river with fish.

1000000721.jpg
And of course a man-made waterfall. This helps keep the humidity in the place.

1000000711.jpg
Quite a nice surprising find for a road trip. I'll have to go back here when its not raining so we can see the outside gardens as well.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

Beautiful
One thing that drew my attention is the plantain, as much as I love nature I love natural food too, plantain chips is one of my favorites

It's nice to see how big the tree is that they come from. My daughter loves bananas so she thought they were green bananas lol.

Thanks again @ewkaw I have a fungifriday for this week coming up finally.

Nice! :) Maybe... MAYBE I will push myself to post something too. Maybe :p

Hope the shrooms are out over there. Or maybe even a snail on a shroom?

Not in this heat. I have to dig some from my photo stash :p

been years since I visited a botanic gardens, such beauty there

Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk
Have a great day

Be prepared for the sauna effect. The hot summer felt cooler outside lol.

Ohh yeah I remember that now, there is one in Providence not to far from here I sdhould go check out one day

What a lovely walk among the flowers in this botanical garden. And so refreshing with those man-made waterfalls!

They also had three different types of quail wandering around in there, they were too buried in the foliage for a good shot.
