Beware the Flying Scissors!

in Wednesday Walk2 months ago

Hello Hello Hivers, Hivians and any other wonderful being who has stumbled onto this!

So today we are having a walk which started off by showcasing one of the biggest conversation topics in the UK. And that is of course the weather.

I had to run some errands, by errands I mean messages and by messages I mean do some shopping. I got outside and saw the gorgeous blue sky. We had a bit of sun again.

So off I went and then the clouds I saw, they was gorgeous white and grey clouds and I turned around because that's what Jay tells us to do.

image.png

Look up and around you @tattoodjay tells us ... So I did.

image.png
I saw the yellow sun trying to peak out!

image.png

As I turned over the football ground the white clouds became smaller.

image.png

Looking towards a stand that houses the away fans the clouds were almost gone.

image.png

And then yes! It was all blue sky, what winter meh weather!

That was me doing my little bit of look up for Wednesday walk.

So like I say we were going to get some groceries.

First of all we passed the old Mill which has the Tteal burn running behind it.

image.png

So the levels of water are back to normal. Not that we had that much rain compared to what I saw in the news for the South of England. Talk about wet and miserable weather!

image.png

Then I was passed by this jogger... Fair play to you son. Even when I was at the height of my sports playing days I was never into jogging alone. I just found it boring. Give me a team sport any day.

image.png

But look. Can you see what's in the grass? Let's go and investigate.

image.png

It is a fluffing shopping trolley or shopping cart silhouette I guess. It looks quite like the shape you see on websites for your basket!

image.png

The back seems to have been ripped out though.

It does have the name Morrison's on it.

Okay on we go up towards the old garage.

image.png

I know it's still winter so the trees are bare, but what do you see on the ground below those trees.

image.png

Seen them?

image.png

Yes, lots of little apples, and I remember last year it was a lovely Indian couple who collected lots of them up. Up. But nobody has this year. I think they are crab apples. Apples, I'm not sure. I am not an Apple fan I'm afraid to say.

image.png

So along the corner on the other side of the road we have this sculpture art thing of season with seagulls.

But can someone tell me the significance of flying scissors?

image.png

Here is the first of the two supermarkets that I mentioned earlier. The eagle eyed readers amongst you will recognize Morrisons as being the name that was on that supermarket trolley that we saw earlier.
image.png

Well you're quite right. That is this trolley belongs.

image.png

But we are not going there. We are going to this one on the left hand side which is Lidl. The reason being that I get the spinach and berries for our green smoothies here. I can also get in and out much quicker without going to the morrisons which is a much larger proper supermarket and takes longer to get through!

image.png

And there we have it. That is my walk a Wednesday walk which happened to be Monday but I did look up to see what was around me. Anyway, have a good one.

This post is for #wednesdaywalk which was inspired by @tattoodjay

DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND DO IT OFTEN

Haste Ye Back!

Sort:

Hahaha. What's going on in your town that there are always shopping carts on the street or stuck in streams? I'm not a big fan of apples either, I don't think we'll ever be poisoned by our stepmother, Ed! Hahaha. A pleasant walk filled with clouds and blue skies. A Wednesday hug for you.

Hahe yes the stepmother won't touch us Nancy! The little shits love to steal shopping carts, I would flog them and make them join the army if I was in power haha!

Looks like it was a beautiful walk! Is Lidl owned by the same company as Aldi? It seems like it would be.

There is an urban myth that two German brothers one owns Aldi and the other owns Lidl. But it is nonsense they are German owned but that it is. Same set up, budget supermarkets that carry only a select range so will always be cheaper than regular supermarkets.

Interesting. We have an Aldi just down the road from where we live. It's pretty nice though we don't shop there very often.

Wild apples must be tastier than the ones with chemicals… you could pick some and turn them into a pie—or any sweet treat—like Lizelle’s.

Cheers, good to see you. 😉

You know I am a berry person, give me raspberries and then I would be fighting to get them lol!

Someone just dump that trolly there after serving it's purpose?😬. Have you tried crab apples?😁

Yes idiots steal them and dump them. Custard apples I love, crab apples I have years ago

So today we are having a walk which started off by showcasing one of the biggest conversation topics in the UK. And that is of course the weather.

You know what I don't fucking miss? Those conversations at the front door about what coat to wear, what shoes, where's my scarf, will you be warm enough etc. Drives me nuts!

And yes, I would have hated to be in the south lately - ugh. And not being able to walk anywhere without sinking calf deep in mud.

Those scissors are a bit wierd!

Haha who's a wee arse now 🤣
Yeah you know how it dominates conversations here. Always asking Alexa what's the weather. Winter hoodie, normal hoodie, winter coat etc etc!
Yeah I can't believe you wet they get it down there, so often!

It's so foreign to me haha. Jamie even does it here .. you can take the British man away from Britain but you can't take away their weather obsession.

What surprises me most are the apples. They're very expensive here, even a luxury. How can there be so many of them?

It is a little tree but has lots and lots of those little apples!
