Brazilian natural wonders – pink ipê blooming season [ENG/ESP]

What's up, hivians! I hope everyone's doing well.

It's been a while since I last appeared here – my last post (which was also the first one) was when I went out for a walk around my town, hunting the stunning purple ipê trees during its blooming period. While I was randomly cleaning up some photo folders on PC, I found the ones below from last year – mid September specifically – from when the pink ipês blossoms was at its peak.

Handroanthus avellanedae or Tabebuia avellanedae is the scientific name of the pink ipê tree, also known as trumpet tree in English, due to the cylindrical shape of its flower. Actually the tree has several names – pau d'arco and piúva or piúna in Brazil and guayacán, lapacho, tajibo, and ocobo in other Spanish-speaking countries from Latin America.

In the South and Southeast regions of Brazil, the ipê trees usually start to bloom during the winter, sometimes a bit earlier, when the weather is cool and dry – the typical Southeast Brazilian winter – and lasts until the spring comes. The purple ipê is the first to bloom and the one whose flowering lasts the longest, followed by the pink ipê, whose flowering lasts a little less than the purple one – less than a week.

Well, the difference between the two colors are very subtle, as one can see below – the purple ipê (on the left) displays brighter and darker pink flowers, meanwhile the pink ipê itself has pale pinkish flowers.

The place I went for a walk among the ipês is called Parque do Povo (in literal translation: People's Park), it's a park that runs through a considerable part of the city. Because of its size there are walking trails all over its extension, there are also bike paths, a skate park, even a volleyball and a soccer field. One also can go there to a picnic or just to seat and relax. It's by far one of my favorite places in town.

That day, in particular, was exceptionally perfect for a walk and also for taking photos – it was sunny and cool, the weather temperature was on point for me, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, and, obviously, the ipês were in full bloom – all of these things contributed to a picturesque breathtaking experience.

I tried to emulate the way I was seeing the scenario on that day through my sunglasses by editing the colors of the pictures. To enhance some elements, like the sky and the flowers, I reduced the green and yellow saturation and increased the pink and the blue a little bit – I also changed the sky's hue of the sky from a deep blue to a turquoise-ish one, in order to highlight it.

All the photos were taken by me, with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 and edited with Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom.

You're lucky to have these trees flowering. We have these in Romania as well, but it's winter here, so I think a few months are needed to see them in their full beauty. Nice shots.

The ipê blooming season there is be probably very different from here, since our winter is hot compared to Europe's winter haha that's interesting tho.
Thank you!

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

Thank you! Fighting and walking! 😁

Wow, seeing that beautiful tree reminds me of the cherry blossoms that grow in Japan

Ipês are underrated, that's the truth haha their blooming season is even longer than the sakura blooming season – not to mention that ipês can come in 5 different colors. 😍
Thanks for commenting!

5 colors?. It is a very extraordinary tree
