We have two indoor cats and they are very anti-social most times unless you are feeding them.
Several feral cats live in the neighborhood, mostly in a deserted house down the block. They have run off all the squirrels and other small wildlife in the neighborhood. I plan to use live box traps to catch them and take them out to a local farm.
That's a good idea. They can do some good on a farm! And they will be well fed by eating mice, I'm sure. Some would say that if you're going to go to that trouble, you should have them spayed/neutered as well to prevent the proliferation of more feral cats, but I know that is going above and beyond!
I'm sorry to hear the population of squirrels and other small animals in your neighborhood has dwindled due to the cats. That's really sad. My cat catches the occasional bunny but I haven't seen a dip in the population around here. We have to drive very slowly in our neighborhood because so many critters are darting across the road!
