"Between Time and Mind" art process. Timelapse and final piece. PT 1 & 2. By Alejandra Her.

A few years ago I made the decision to work as full time artist for multiple reasons: the first and most important was because it made me feel alive. And it's not that before dedicating myself to art I felt dead or something like that, but rather that I felt that a very important art of mine was in a hole in the depths of my being, and that there were hundreds of very important things that I had to say and that he could not find words to express them. When I think about this I still can't find words, that's why I make art, because it's the only way I can communicate certain things.

I will tell you more about this in another post, today I want to show you how I started this work.

Those who know my work know that my works are figurative art, I always include human figures in them, portraits of people who seem to express little, because in reality it is the environment that creates the expression. An environment full of dualities, of realities that transform and merge with imagination and memory.

This piece was born like most of my works: with a face, and then came that world that unleashes chaos, and rebuilds it again to destroy it again.

I hope you enjoy this step by step. I love frame by frame animation because I feel like it's like painting hundreds of works in one. I love making animations with these richly textured digital brushes.

Here I share the step-by-step video of the portrait and its destruction with an object with pendular movement:

But this animation was mutating as I had more things to say, and I adapted it to my needs by changing the colors and sizes, and also modifying this pendulum object:

And the final piece. I love this piece. I think it expresses my anguish and uncertainty about so many things.

I'm going to share Vimeo's link, because it's the best quality place to look at it. But also, there is the youtube link.

I prefer you to watch it on Vimeo, if you want to please me.. that would be amazing 😌
Please, sound on and enjoy it as a whole experience.
