Demo Task - Sagomini Style

in OnChainArt2 years ago (edited)

Hello, lovelies!

I hope everyone's well!

I'm sharing another vector work today. It's a super simple, child-oriented style. Again, this was for a work application assignment. I've applied to a mobile developer company where they're focusing making apps for autistic children and toddlers. Apparently they're recently made an agreement with Sago Mini, and needed an illustrator to work in their style.

The task was in two parts. At first, they sent me a sketch and asked me to color it in vectors, being loyal to the style. for creative commons, I'm not going to show you the sketch, but here's the coloring I did.

I must say, the character and the composition does not belong to me. I simply followed the sketch that was provided to me.

In the second part of the task, they asked me to make some objects in their style. A dough blender, a snail, and a garbage truck. I was to choose one of them, but I has so much fun with it I made two of each, hahahaha.

Here are some sketches for the mixers. To turn these objects to the simple styled illustrations, which I'm honestly not very good at, I tried to break down the object into geometric shapes and sketches sure helped that.

Here are the two mixers I came up with;

Then comes the snail. The same thing applied to it. They specifically wanted it to not look like a character, but an environment object, so I kept things pretty simple there too.

And the final snails I did. I tried to keep everything partially geometric again, using mostly circles and arcs all over the place. The easy-to-read shapes are much more important than details in this cases, I suppose. It was like coming up with logo ideas. I guess I missed working on logos.

And the last one, the garbage truck. This one was hard. I'm not good with cars, and to simplify one, I needed to understand the general shape and make out the necessities. I think the thing I struggled with most was to align and scale the pieces with each other. At last, I turned up the grids and drew the shapes on the grids, attaching to the points and I guess I worked. At least it solved the problem for me.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the job once again. They did tell me they liked the illustrations, but they went on with another candidate. Oh well. It sure was heartbreaking. I wanted this job so much, I enjoyed the tasks and I was sure I'd be happy to work more like this but nothing to do I suppose. Onto the next applications!

Thank you for checking in! I hope you like it!
See you soon! Have a nice weekend!

Wow really wonderful work dear. Keep it and continue to get more perfection.

Thank you! Not sure if anyone can reach perfection but the closer, the better, right? :D
