Hace un par de años iba de camino a casa en un autobús, en medio de un gran embotellamiento debido a un accidente más adelante en la carretera (que son muy comunes en esa vía). Este accidente había ocurrido aproximadamente en el Km 10 de la carretera según la radio que se escuchaba en el bus (si no recuerdo mal) y yo vivo en el Km 16, por lo tanto, los pasajeros que vivimos más allá del Km 10 sabíamos que en algún momento veríamos la trágica causa de nuestro retraso. Estaba de pie, ya que todos los asientos estaban ocupados y le había cedido el mío a una señora mayor. Eran las 8:00 pm más o menos cuando llegamos al punto del accidente.
No quería ver esa escena, así que antes de llegar a ese punto, me giré hacia las ventanas opuestas a la vista del área del accidente. Pero yo estaba de pie, y de lo que sí obtuve una vista panorámica, fue de la gente que me rodeaba en el autobús mientras pasábamos por el lugar del accidente. Honestamente, no me sorprendió lo que hicieron.
English Version
A couple of years ago I was on my way home in a bus, in the middle of a big traffic jam due to an accident further down the road (which are very common on that road). This accident had occurred at approximately Km 10 on the road according to the radio playing on the bus (if I remember correctly) and I live at Km 16, so those of us passengers who live beyond Km 10 knew that at some point we would see the tragic cause of our delay. I was standing, as all the seats were taken and I had given up my seat to an older lady. It was 8:00 pm or so when we arrived at the point of the accident.
I didn't want to see that scene, so before I got to that point, I turned to the windows opposite the view of the accident area. But I was standing, and what I did get a panoramic view of, was the people around me on the bus as we passed the accident site. Honestly, I wasn't surprised by what they did.
La gran mayoría de los pasajeros sacaron sus celulares y comenzaron a tomar fotografías a través de las ventanillas para compartirlas en las redes con sus contactos. No vi el accidente, pero supongo que fue algo horrible por las expresiones en los rostros que vi en algunas personas. Fue impresionante ver cómo casi todos tenían sus teléfonos listos para tomar fotografías cuando llegamos al área del accidente. "¿Está muerto?" Escuché de una voz trémula proveniente del fondo del autobús.
Proceso
La breve anécdota que les conté en líneas anteriores inspiró el dibujo que les presento hoy. Se trata de un personaje tirado en el piso, con el cuerpo herido y desgarrado, mientras se ven manos flotantes con manos sosteniendo celulares listas para tomar fotografías del evento. Creo que la imagen habla por sí sola de lo idiotas que a veces son algunas personas con la tecnología. Así empecé con el dibujo digital:
The vast majority of the passengers took out their cell phones and started taking pictures through the windows to share them on the networks with their contacts. I didn't see the accident, but I guess it was something horrible from the expressions on the faces I saw on some people. It was impressive to see how almost everyone had their phones ready to take pictures when we reached the accident area. "Is dead?" I heard from a tremulous voice coming from the back of the bus.
Process
The brief anecdote I told you in previous lines inspired the drawing I present to you today. It is about a character lying on the floor, with his body wounded and torn, while floating hands are seen with hands holding cell phones ready to take pictures of the event. I think the image speaks for itself about how idiotic some people sometimes are with technology. That's how I got started with digital drawing:
A continuación les muestro parte del desarrollo de las capas de coloreado. Aquí me entretuve usando varios de mis colores favoritos en diferentes tonalidades, destacando el morado del personaje, el verde del líquido que emana del cuerpo en pedazos y el azul del suelo.
Below I show you part of the development of the coloring layers. Here I had fun using several of my favorite colors in different shades, highlighting the purple of the character, the green of the liquid emanating from the body in pieces and the blue of the ground.
Con los colores base listos, agrego una nueva capa de sombras y luces. Para terminar, puse un fondo oscuro con tonos rojos, morados y azules, además de las siluetas de caritas sonrientes distorsionadas. Este fue el resultado final:
With the base colors ready, I add a new layer of shadows and lights. To finish, I put a dark background with red, purple and blue tones, plus the distorted smiley face silhouettes. This was the final result:
