This is a painting I did a while back. I wanted to try a new approach than my normal workflow. I normally start with a line drawing. Not a precise one, but just a quick block in. At this point that sort of feels safe to me. I know where I'm going early on and things build up in a very structured way. What I'd been finding though was that I wanted to play more with the ratio of abstraction to the representational elements, and I think it works better if the whole thing starts pretty abstract then I bring some areas in to focus while leaving the others not so much. So this painting was an exercise in that.

So this is still a drawing, just not a line drawing. It's a bit of a different way of thinking to draw with shape masses vs drawing with lines. Lines are my comfort zone.

And that about did it. I'll try to get back into posting. See you all in the next one.

Really lovely @midlet. I love to paint like this, building and growing but then letting bits and bobs of it still be a painting with the underside showing whilst the realness forms upon the face, lovely color and form for sure.

Thanks @donnadavisart! Yea, I enjoyed it :)

This is incredibly beautiful 😍

So pretty, I love your color choices :)

Thanks! Real men are all about pink :p

Great art you show us here, greetings.

Greetings @ikigaidesign, glad you like it!

Very good. But I would like to know if you made it with a digitalized program, Or did you make it with real paints and brushes?
Just to know, because it's a genius anyway.

This is very impressive and beautiful. The type of thing you see in a museum. Bravo!

I dunno about that haha, but thanks! :)

Such an incredible piece! The hierarchy of the finesse and colours and strokes... Beautiful

Great exercise! Seems as it provides more freedom to play within the piece itself. Love it!!

Thanks! Glad you like.

This work is fantastic, I really like the level of detail of the face, in contrast with everything else.
@tipu curate

This is excellent! I really like the mixture of strokes that you used for the final product. It adds a unique style to your painting. Keep up the great work. 😊

Seems you didn't post much in 2022 either, I'm trying to keep my new year's resolution of posting daily. :D

Yea, I totally fell off. Gonna try and get back into it.
