This was my finished study from inside the cathedral cloister in Évora, Portugal.
This was also my second time entering the cathedral, I first came late afternoon the day before, but because I didn’t have much time to fully explore the place, the lady at the entrance told me I could come back the next day, free of charge. So I went back at 10 am the following day.

To start with, I had the entire cathedral to myself, I went to the rooftop and looked out over the city, nobody else was there. This enabled me to get a number of decent photos of the place, and also to take everything in and experience it without distraction.

This was my first of two sketches from inside the cathedral. You can view my second one, here: Light At The End
I painted this with watercolour & gouache.
Thank you for viewing,
Robbie
Nice of the person to let you back in the following day :D
And love being in places off-peak, so much calmer and able to enjoy things more. And in your case probably easier to paint without people knocking into you or breathing down your neck to see what you're doing? :D
