Looking from across the pond, it seems like the Trump-wing of the Republicans needs to regroup, and fast. Trump still holds a lot of authority on the right, yet his age means he has an expiration date as far as politics goes. You wouldn't want him rambling and stammering like Biden does atm. Trump will be 78 in 2024. That could be him in a few years.
In my opinion, he has the power/influence now to 'crown' his successor for 2024, and he should do it sooner rather than later. Pile the pressure on the neo-cons, don't let them get the idea that populist/nationalist politics will wither and die with Trump. I don't know who this successor would be, but for the sake of the right in the US the search should start now with 2024 in mind.
