Roman vs Viking ⚔

Intro

Yesterdays tournament wasn't bad. As usual, it was filled with triumphs, blunders and even heartbreaking loses from me at least, LOL 😹.

But every match played gets you 1% better than before and that's what matters most. ♥

Here's how the final leaderboard looked:

  1. 🥇 Rosmarly– 40 points

  2. 🥈 Jaki- 39 points

  3. 🥉 ZGM_Samostically– 37 points

As usual, let's highlight some of the games that are quite interesting and we could learn from 👇🏼

Today's Game Highlights and Analysis

JUST_OLA VS FCASTRO17

I won this match against a high rated player but I won't call it my best because it was filled with inaccuracies.

White beserked and kicked off with the Opening: Queen's Gambit Declined: Marshall Defense.

There was a lot of blunders on both sides but the move that secured Blacks winning was the Knights movement to b4 capturing whites pawn. It gave Black the opportunity to capture whites bishop at f4 and then pressuring with his rook. Whites Knight was about to be captured, he then resigned which led to black winning this round.

JUST_OLA VS JUSTFAVOUR

This game opened with the Vienna Game, where both players developed solidly until the queens were traded early, leading to a tense middlegame.

Black made a blunder by moving his Knight to g4, capturing white's pawn. This led to White checking his Knight and exchanges were made which opened up Blacks defenses. This gave White the opportunity to coordinate attacks that led to a checkmate at Rg8(Rook to g8).

FIONA777 VS ZGM_SAMOSTICALLY

@fiona777 was in my DM after the tournament to tease me 😹 and also share her joy of acquiring high points. Good work again, friend.

I decided to look through her games later and I saw she won against samostically, a formidable opponent. I had to ask her what sorcery was used, Loll. Well, its chess and things like this happen often.

White beserked and kicked off with the Bishops Opening. He tired to end the game quite quick by placing his bishop at c4 and Queen at f3. Alas, black saw through the move and defended by placing her pawn at f6.

White made a blunder that cost him his Queen. Black leveraged the opportunity of losing a big piece and also the time constraint to land a checkmate.
