Intro: Taking a Chill Pill

I had to wait a day to cook up this post so I don't saturate the chess community.

I was filled with much vitality after yesterday's game and wanted to share a recap so quick on Hive.

At the end of yesterday's tournament, I was able to amass a total of 21 points and I secured the 9th place out of 28 players.

As always, I'm proud of myself ๐Ÿฆš

Here's how the final leaderboard looked:

  1. ๐Ÿฅ‡ Odnoobraz_bcmโ€“ 46 points

  2. ๐Ÿฅˆ SouthGamer- 38 points

  3. ๐Ÿฅ‰ FCastro17โ€“ 31 points

As usual, let's highlight some of the games that are quite interesting and we could learn from ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

Today's Game Highlights and Analysis

JUST_OLA VS ROSMARLY

My first win was against rosmarly.

White opened with the Queen's Pawn Game: Colle System. One blunder changed the whole outcome of the game. Rook to b8 by White was an error that gave chance for black to capture White's rook at b8. The games went on and more pieces were exchanged, it was evident that black was going to win this round, White resigned before a checkmate happened.

The Blunder:

Rook to b8

JUST_OLA VS STAYOUTOFTHERZ

This game was quite interesting for me.

I analyzed the game and saw that my opponent made two errors:

  1. His center wasn't properly guarded and the move Knight to f4 opened up his defenses and gave room for me to attack aggressively.

  2. White's Knight moving from f3 to d3 was a blunder that cost him a Rook.

I had more leverage due to the errors and I won the round .

SOUTHGAMER VS STUFFINGS

SouthGamer has been on a winning spree so I decided to see how he won against one of our strongest players 'stuffings'.

Its crazy one error changes the dynamics of a game. That move knight to f6 was a major error that cost Black to lose a piece and lose this game.
