Hello Chess players on Hive,

Yesterday, we played the fifth round of the weekly Saturday HiveChess Tournament. We had a total of 23 players who clicked to join the event and about 21 players who actually played a game. Apologies for sending the reminders late. I believe more people would have joined if I did remind them earlier.

In a tournament where there was so many Queen blunders and tactical games, where no one went unbeaten, International Master @maestroask with the fewest loses (2) among the top players emerged champion reclaiming the crown after losing it in round 4. @tangibleay wasn't to be denied a top podium finish this time as he also reclaimed a spot finishing second. While last week's winner @poseout87 needed a last minute rally to secure 3rd place.

Welcome @memess who joined us this week for the first time. @suisver also joined but missed the event start time due to time zone miscalculations.

Also no best u-1500 prize this week as @dadapizza can't win two prizes and also @memess didn't play up to 3 games or win a game to claim the prize

Tournament Details

1. We play every Saturday at 15:00 GMT

2. We play on an open-source chess application, www.lichess.org

3. To start up on Lichess, kindly read @samostically's Introduction to Lichess Platform

4. Register with your Lichess username in the comment section if your name is not on the mention list.

5. Total play time is 1 hour and 10 minutes. Time control for the tournament varies with each round.

6. Feel free to write about your tournament experience and post the link in the comment. Quality posts will get curated. Alternatively, you can post on our Discord channel.
