Onboarding on Hive Through Chess (2)

Hello everyone, I wrote about my idea of Onboarding on Hive through Chess, a project I've decided to embark on as I feel very connected to chess and Hive and I believe it's an opportunity to grow chess in Africa and also around the world. The Hive chess community is one of the oldest community on Hive and in recent years we've grown stronger and Better.

I know this project of onboarding especially with chess players can be quite cumbersome so I've decided to team up and get as much support as I can before I proceed. In this moment I'd like to appreciate @blocktrades for his support. I'd also like to thank @jaki01 & @stayoutoftherz, the leaders of the community for their support and their vote of confidence in this project. Like they say where I'm from, "he who has elders in the house has treasures of wisdom". There are still alot of people I wish to thank but I can't go on tagging everyone, But I appreciate the support.

The Next Phase

The First tournament i intend to do to create awareness and also onboard people to hive is an invitational tournament. In this tournament, I would be inviting 12 players from different parts of africa to compete and be rewarded in Hive. 10 of which would consist of International Masters, Fide Masters, Candidate Masters, and Two Wild cards. The tournament would be a swiss tournament at the convenience of the players and also it would be arranged in such a way spectators would have enough time to tune in watch as the fixtures and time would be posted on the blockchain prior to the start of the games.

I could as well add that International Master Femi Balogun as shown interest in participating and also joining the blockchain. It is interesting to note that IM Femi balogun played against the former world champion and current No 1 chess player Magnus carlsen in the Fide world cup in 2017 with the game lasting over 50 moves!

Time controls would also be determined by the players,but I'd be proposing a double 10+5 game format and a 5+0 blitz game if it is tied at 1-1

Fairplay & Anti-Cheating Measures

In chess, we've had reports of cheating and in this tournament there would be some anti cheating measures which most of this professionals are already used to. They would be required to play under camera and also since playing would be done on lichess.org, Games are automatically reviewed for cheating detection. I'd also like to add that players invited are solely based on their reputation and also their interest in Joining Hive.

African Chess Media

I have teamed up with African chess media to organize the tournament, invite the players, promote the tournament and also bring awareness. It's also important for me to add that this tournament is the first of many as there would still be another open to all categories and would focus on mass onboarding to the chess community.

Prizes and Account Creation.

Prizes would be paid in Hive. As of the last post, we have 25 Hive and 22 HBD. Considering most of my chess related post rewards would be going to this project, I hope with time I'd be able to raise enough to get this started. I'd update as time goes on.

The account @sam.chess has been created to this effect.

Account creation for the players would be done by @edicted or @stayoutoftherz. They have volunteered to help me create account for new players and people I onboard. @theycallmedan liked my tweet and I've decided to tag him here as I'm also a big fan of @ragnarok.game, hopefully we can get more chess players on board.

Conclusion

While there are still alot I need to add, I'd stop here and keep more updates for my next posts. I believe now it's something I can do and every step counts in getting it done.
