The horizon stretched out for miles and between them was only sand and water. The ice cream lay there, doing what ice creams do on sunny days.
It had been a long, long morning. Many hours of driving and many conversations. So many songs, so many stops and coffee at service stations in between. Leg stretches, soft hugs and 𝓶𝓮𝓵𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 into each other's eyes. Bum slaps as she skipped to ride shotgun. Kindred spirits eager for new beginnings. They were still only a third of the way there.

She sang. Inhibited?. No. She didn't have to be self conscious with him. He didn't mind. He knew nobody heard her sing, other than him - when she was in the shower. She trusted him implicitly. He didn't even mind when she missed the note completely.
Because out in the big wide world, she wasn't anyone...but to him...
After nine hours of driving, stopping, sipping, swapping, dropping the bags in the doorway of the motel that would be their little empire for the evening; she looked at him and could see that the day had taken it's toll.
She made the calls to order food and drinks and she turned the bed down. Kissing him lovingly all the while helping him to get undressed. Because they both needed some rest. Tomorrow would be many more miles before they got to the spot...where things would start, they would build their own version of dreams together. But that could wait. Now, was for downtime. Together.
