Character review: Capricorn Shura from Saint Seiya

Today, I continue with the series on the Saints of Saint Seiya, this time to talk about a particular Saint, Capricorn Shura, who is one of the most iconic and complex characters. There is something that all these Saints have in common, both the Bronze and Gold Saints: they all have an important mission and legacy, which is to protect Athena.

This character also has his internal struggles, as he sometimes doubts between his ideals and the orders he is given. I wanted to find out more about his childhood, but I can't talk about that in depth. All I know is that he received rigorous training at an early age, as was customary, and he had a very close connection with his teacher, who was also the former Capricorn.

This is why Shura is known for having a rather unique power, one of which is his famous Excalibur, with which he can split space in two, making him very lethal in combat. He also has considerable endurance on the battlefield. There is something very important to note about Shura, and that is that his role in Hades changes everything at that point. I also feel that he is one of the most popular Saints in the entire Saint Seiya saga.

Something else worth noting is that he was one of the Saints who executed Aioros of Sagittarius on the orders of the false patriarch in his attempt to usurp power. However, as we all know, Aioros was able to save the baby Athena, leaving her in the care of Mitsumasa Kidu. Another interesting aspect is that Shura gives his Excalibur technique to Shiryu after their confrontation in the 12 houses, a technique that Shiryu would later use in the Poseidon saga.

I like that this character combines a lot of mythology, has a complex personality, and is very important. He has been adapted into video games, is one of the most physically striking characters, and his green hair makes him look more evil than good.
