Story&Summary

Hotaru Hinasuka is the sweet high school girl who is the main character of this anime. The fact is that Hotaru has no interest in love since childhood. She does not want to expand her life out of family, friends and the family type activities of school. She is not interested and does not want to entangle herself in the complexities of love. On one snowy afternoon, Hotaru witnesses the most handsome boy in school, Hananoi-kun being dumped by his boy-friend in the street.

The anguish in the eyes of Hananoi is apparent. The heart of Hotaru breaks with charisma. Unwittingly she extends her umbrella to him. Hananoi-kun is deeply impressed over this small act of kindness. The following day at school Hananoi-kun proceeds to Hotaru and proposes to her openly. Hotaru is shocked at first. She has never experienced love in her life. Therefore she does not dare to take such a proposal at all. But then, her young naive emotions and purity seem to melt her. Hotaru believes - in the event there is love then one can start with this boy. She gets into the proposal with conditions. The bond between them starts in a weird but straightforward fashion.

Hananoi-kun would like to do anything in love. He does not mind doing whatever it takes to win Hotaru. Even goes somewhat over the top. This unconditional love towards him makes Hotaru uneasy at some point. But as the time passes, Hotaru understands that love is not just beautiful moments but hesitation uncertainty and feeling of own limitations. Hananoi-kun is somehow dependent in his love and this can be very painful. Her friends advise Hotaru that the relationship is taking place too rapidly. But Hotaru makes up her mind strongly that she wants to experience both the beautiful and the hard sides of the relations with her own eyes.

They both go through tormented times in their lives- rumors at school, troubles on their parts with their respective families and an element of fear and sexual attraction to one another. Taking time, Hotaru understands that love should not only make somebody happy, but appreciate yourself as well. And Hananoi-kun also gets to know that it is important to know other limits as opposed to blind love. Near the conclusion of the tale they both are maturing their sentiments. They are taught that love is a disease of sorts - life is uncertain and unstable but there is something special in its instability. The two, Hotaru and Hananoi-kun, learn how to reconnect.

My Explanation

A Condition Called Love is romance anime which was released in 2024. It is a film with the plot about two adolescents based on their emotional relationship. Character development is the big plus point of the story. Hotaru makes an attempt to figure out how she feels gradually. As she comes to know the importance of love, it is not merely an attraction towards someone, but it is more of a strong bonding, commitment, respect, and compromise. Conversely, Saki seems to be overemotional and the attitude to turn everything into making love is dislikeable, however, in the proceeding pages, her past and scars have been exposed. This helps the viewer to realize that her state of being in love is nothing but an effort to fill the gap in her. The graphics of the anime is beautifully made, the pastel-toned art is really a good illustration of the romance. The appearance of Hotaru through the eyes of Saki, or doubts Hotaru has regarding how she feels, all this is shown with the beautiful light animation.

The sound track is as well fitting the atmospheric setting created in the story. The introductory song especially the theme song is sweet and touching. Voice work is pretty vivid, the actors who perform two main characters have done their part of displaying passion with words. Nevertheless, at the beginning it is quite possible that some viewers will find the behavior of Saki to be some degree possessive or clingy. Sometimes even her actions are a silent signal of an unhealthy relationship. That is why this anime is not only about romance, but also about health and limits of relations. All in all, A Condition Called love is not simply a school romance. It reveals how spontaneous love comes with complexities affection and alteration of personalities in life.
