Hello everyone, I hope you are well friends of the great community of The Anime Realm, I hope you are super well, today I come to talk to you about a super rare anime, which I hardly watch but with so many recommendations from my friends, I gave it a chance .. and it's time to tell you my opinion haha. Let's talk about: Go! Go! Loser Ranger! I know, I know, the name sounds kind of silly, like a direct parody of the Power Rangers, and well, in part it does, but it is much murkier and more brilliant than I imagined .. I had my eye on it when it was playing in the spring 2024 season, and the name with some images smelled like Super Sentai from miles away, but I entered it almost without knowing anything, and the truth ... it was the best decision, especially for the first half .. so, imagine this: what would happen if the Power Rangers, or in this series, the "Dragon Keepers", were not exactly the vigilante types we grew up with?

We’ve seen this trend more often lately, especially in American stuff – think The Boys, where these superpowered heroes are actually really badasses, sometimes downright cruel, and not at all the cool saviors they appear to be… Go! Go! Loser Ranger! isn’t as graphic or extreme as The Boys, thank goodness!, but it does lean into that “heroes who are actually really badasses” vibe… the twist, people, is great… it all started like this: thirteen years ago, alien monsters invaded Earth, and the Dragon Keepers showed up and, in theory, killed all the bosses… classic, right?

But here’s the kicker: the second-rate soldiers, creatures called “Dusters,” survived. Instead of wiping them out, the Rangers basically forced them into a crazy deal: every Sunday for the past thirteen years, these Dusters have to put on a televised show where the Rangers “defeat” them. It’s all a mega spectacle to keep the crowd happy and maintain the Dragon Keepers’ image as heroes. These Dusters are basically slaves. They’re forced to die and regenerate week after week just to keep the show going, an entire industry built on fake heroism. Can you imagine a life like that?

Hola a todos, espero que estén bien amigos de la gran comunidad de The Anime Realm, espero que estén super bien, hoy vengo a hablarles de un anime súper raro, que casi no veo pero con tanta recomendación de mis amigos, le di una oportunidad.. y es momento de contarles mi opinión jaja. Hablemos de: Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Ya sé, ya sé, el nombre suena medio tonto, como una parodia directa de los Power Rangers, y pues, en parte sí, pero es mucho más turbio y brillante de lo que me imaginaba.. le había echado el ojo cuando andaba sonando en la temporada de primavera de 2024, y el nombre con algunas imágenes olía a Super Sentai a kilómetros, pero le entré casi sin saber nada, y la verdad… fue la mejor decisión, sobre todo para la primera mitad.. así que, imagínense esto: ¿qué pasaría si los Power Rangers, o en esta serie, los " Dragón Kepeers", no fueran exactamente los tipos justicieros con los que crecimos?

Esta onda ya la hemos visto más seguido últimamente, sobre todo en cosas gringas –piensen en The Boys, donde estos héroes con superpoderes son en realidad unos desgraciados, a veces bien crueles, y para nada los salvadores buena onda que aparentan.. Go! Go! Loser Ranger! no es tan gráfico ni ta extremo como The Boys, ¡gracias al cielo!, pero sí que le tira a esa onda de "héroes que en el fondo son unos desgraciados".. el giro, gente, es buenísimo.. todo empezó así: hace trece años, unos monstruos alienígenas invadieron la Tierra, y los Dragon Kepeers, aparecieron y, en teoría, mataron a todos los jefes.. lo clásico, ¿no?

Pero aquí viene lo bueno: los soldaditos segundones, unas criaturas que llaman "Dusters", sobrevivieron.. en lugar de liquidarlos, los Guardianes básicamente los obligaron a un acuerdo bien loco, cada domingo, desde hace trece años, estos Dusters tienen que armar un show televisado donde los Rangers los "derrotan".. todo es un mega espectáculo para tener a la gente contenta y mantener la imagen de héroes de los Dragón Kepeers. Estos Dusters son, básicamente, esclavos.. los obligan a morir y a regenerarse semana tras semana solo para mantener el teatrito, toda una industria montada sobre heroísmo de mentira.. se pueden imaginar una vida así?

One of these soldiers is fed up with this never-ending theatrics... so, he sets out on a mission to destroy the entire Ranger organization from within... this is where our protagonist, Fighter D... comes in. He's one of these Dusters and, after thirteen years of this farce, fed up with being a mere puppet, fed up with the same old circus... so he wants to destroy this rotten system, and it's pretty great because, in theory, he's a "villain", or part of his gang of Dusters, and he gets it into his head that he's going to wipe out the entire organization... his original plan was to conquer the world, the typical monster thing, you know... he wants revenge... but while he's infiltrating, he starts to understand what humans are like. It's a very interesting journey for this character who, although not human, begins to grow and see things in a more human way, or at least, you end up supporting these Dusters, you see how they suffer, how they sacrifice themselves for no reason, and you just want them to be freed.

Un soldado de estos, está harto de este teatrito que no acaba nunca.. así que, se avienta la misión de desmadrar toda la organización Ranger desde adentro.. aquí es donde entra nuestro prota, el Luchador D.. es uno de estos Dusters y, después de trece años de esta farsa, harto de ser un simple títere, harto del circo de siempre.. así que quiere destruir este sistema podrido, y está bien genial porque, en teoría, es un "villano", o de su banda de Dusters y se le mete en la cabeza que va acabar con toda la organización.. su plan original era conquistar el mundo, lo típico de los monstruos, ya saben.. quiere vengarse.. pero mientras se está infiltrando, va entendiendo como son los humanos. Es un viaje bien interesante el de este personaje que, aunque no es humano, empieza a crecer y a ver las cosas de una forma más humana, o mínimo, terminas apoyando a estos Dusters, ves cómo sufren, cómo se sacrifican a lo tonto, y nomás quieres que ya los liberen..

Now, the pacing of the first season... they crammed A LOT of stuff into those 12 chapters! The first half was super dense to properly establish the world, the characters and how D snuck in at the beginning... it caught me quickly, but the second half changes things up and focuses mostly on this fighting exam for the Ranger cadets... you know, that vibe we always see in shonen, which is to introduce you to a bunch of new characters and their powers at once, and almost always a villain comes out to do crazy things, well that's more or less what happens here... for me, the pacing in this second part felt A BIT more stretched out, kind of predictable at times, but I did like seeing how D, slowly and as if not wanting to, teams up with the gang he has to work with.

And although maybe THOSE secondary characters didn’t interest me that much, the dynamic between them was cool… in fact, I was more curious about some of the First Class Junior Rangers, the ones directly under the main Dragon Keepers… it seems like they smell that something is wrong, the fights, gang! D is not a super warrior, he’s a Duster, I mean, his personal strength is low, he’s terrible at fighting, so many times he has to win with skill, with tricks, taking advantage of the other’s weak points, and that looks great on his character, they are not always the most spectacular fights, but they are clever, you know?

That said, there are some great moments that are exciting, you can see that the fights have the potential to get even better as the characters get more into it. It makes sense that the cadets are a bit green, that they lack experience, one thing that kept me entertained and attentive was how D tried to avoid being discovered... these Dusters, when they're not in fighting mode, look like cute little black and white figures, D pretends to be human, but any little cut can give him away - if he gets a cut on a paper, boom! He's always afraid of getting hurt in front of anyone, and that creates a really good tension, one of those "oh, they're going to catch him" kind.

Ahora, el ritmo de la primera temporada... le metieron UN MONTÓN de cosas a esos 12 capítulos! la primera mitad estuvo súper densa para plantearte bien el mundo, los personajes y cómo se coló D al principio.. a mí me atrapó rápido, ya la segunda mitad le cambia la jugada y se enfoca más que nada en este examen de pelea para los cadetes Ranger.. ya saben, esa onda que siempre vemos en los shonen, que es para presentarte un montón de personajes nuevos y sus poderes de golpe, y casi siempre sale un villano a hacer locuras, pues más o menos eso pasa aquí.. para mí, el ritmo en esta segunda parte se sintió UN POQUITO más estirado, medio predecible a ratos, pero sí me gustó ver cómo D, despacito y como que no queriendo la cosa, va haciendo equipo con la banda con la que le toca trabajar.

Y aunque tal vez ESOS personajes secundarios no me interesaban tanto, la dinámica entre ellos sí estaba chida.. de hecho, me picaron más la curiosidad algunos de los Rangers Junior de Primera Clase, los que están directito bajo los Dragon Kepeers principales.. como que esos sí huelen que algo anda mal, las peleas, banda! D no es un súper guerrero, es un Duster, o sea, su fuerza personal es baja, es terrible peleando, así que muchas veces tiene que ganar con maña, con truco, aprovechando los puntos débiles del otro, y eso le queda degenial a su personaje, no siempre son las peleas más espectaculares, pero son listas, ¿saben?

Eso sí, hay unos momentazos que emocionan, se ve que las peleas tienen el potencial de ponerse todavía mejores conforme los personajes le agarren más la onda. Tiene lógica que los cadetes estén medio verdes, que les falte experiencia, una cosa que me tenía entretenido y atento era como D intentaba no ser descubierto.. estos Dusters, cuando no andan en modo pelea, parecen unas figuritas blanco y negro tiernas, D se hace pasar por humano, ¡pero cualquier cortadita lo puede delatar – si se corta con un papel, ¡pum!, se hace polvo un segundo! Siempre anda con el miedo de no lastimarse enfrente de nadie, y eso crea una tensión buenísima, de esas de "ay, ya lo van a atrapar".

And the Rangers themselves… or well, the Red Ranger, what can I say? He's like a Homelander, but lighter, a first-rate sadist, hungry for power, and incredibly strong. There's a scene where, just like that, he kills a subordinate for questioning him… it's moments like that that really make it clear how rotten this organization of so-called "heroes" is. Then you have the Blue Ranger, who at first you say, "What a cold guy," but then you get to know his story, and he's one of the few truly heroic figures in the group, in his own complicated way. His story really resonated with me. The series keeps you thinking, "So, what's a hero? Who's the real hero here?"

My only "but", and it's something that several have commented, is that some characters seem to quickly accept or even help Fighter D... I mean, if the Dusters are the "enemy", one would think that they would be more distrustful or that some of them would have more internal anger, but the series often gives you good reasons for their alliances like Hibiki Sakurama, who because of her past has reasons to question how things are. So it's not something that ruins the experience for you, just something I noticed... but overall, how I liked Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, the first half, with how they build the world and the infiltration I really liked, the development of the characters and the tension that is felt kept it very high... so I give it a well-placed and tasteful 8.5/10! It's smart, it's funny, it's dark, it entertained me... soon I will start the second season, which seems like it will get much more serious... and well, that would be all friends, I leave the opening here below.

Y los Rangers mismos… o bueno El Ranger Rojo, ¿qué les digo? es como un Homelander pero más light, un sádico de primera, hambriento de poder y fuertísimo el condenado.. hay una escena donde, así nomás, mata a un subordinado por cuestionarlo… son esos momentos los que te dejan bien claro lo podrida que está esta organización de disque "héroes". Luego tienes al Ranger Azul, que al principio dices "qué tipo tan frío", pero luego le conoces su historia y es de las pocas figuras que de verdad son heroicas en el grupo, a su manera toda complicada.. su historia sí me llegó.. la serie te tiene todo el tiempo pensando: "Bueno, ¿y qué es un héroe? ¿Quién es el héroe de verdad aquí?".

Mi único "pero", y es algo que varios han comentado, es que algunos personajes como que muy rápido aceptan o hasta ayudan al Luchador D.. digo, si los Dusters son el "enemigo", uno pensaría que les daría más desconfianza o que tendrían más bronca interna algunos de ellos, pero la serie muchas veces te da buenas razones para sus alianzas como Hibiki Sakurama, que por su pasado pues tiene motivos para cuestionar cómo están las cosas. Así que no es algo que te arruine la experiencia, solo algo que noté.. pero en general, ¡cómo me gustó Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, la primera mitad, con cómo te arman el mundo y la infiltración me gustó bastante, el desarrollo de los personajes y la tensión que se siente la mantuvieron bien arriba.. así que le doy un ¡8.5/10 bien puesto y con gusto! Es inteligente, es divertida, es oscura, me entretuvo.. pronto empezaré la segunda temporada, que parece que se pondrá mucho más seria.. y bueno, esto sería todo amigos, les dejo el opening por aquí abajo.
