Imagine waking up 17 years later and realizing that almost all of the societal norms and technologies you took for granted have completely changed. The anime doesn’t just brush this off as a minor detail; it turns it into a prime source of comedy. There’s a running gag about how our “uncle” struggles to understand things like smartphones and the internet, which, as a techie, made me both laugh and feel a bit nostalgic. I found myself thinking, “Wow, can you imagine having to relearn how to use a phone after all this time?” It’s a humorous yet surprisingly poignant reminder of just how fast the world is moving.

Hola a todos, espero que estén genial, gran comunidad de Hive, espero que estén super bien, hoy quiero hablarles de un nuevo anime, está vez les quiero compartir una nueva reseña, les hablaré del anime: Uncle from Another World, me llamo la atención su premisa tan inusual: un hombre despierta después de 17 años en coma y afirma que ha estado viviendo en otro mundo, incluso adquiriendo poderes mágicos en el proceso.. ahora bien, antes de que pienses que se trata de otro isekai más, déjame decirte algo: esta no es una historia típica de “transportado a otro mundo”.. es más bien una narrativa “post-isekai” que le da la vuelta al género al enfocarse en el regreso del protagonista a nuestro mundo moderno y familiar.. honestamente, ese giro fue suficiente para engancharme desde el principio, recuerdo que me senté una tarde tranquila con mis amigos, emocionado por comentar esta idea tan peculiar.

No podía evitar compararla con los clásicos isekai que todos conocemos, donde la aventura consiste en escapar de la realidad.. aquí, sin embargo, nos lanzan a un escenario en el que el regreso a la realidad está lleno de su propia clase de magia y, sí, de muchísima comedia.. el protagonista, al que podríamos llamar cariñosamente “el tío de otro mundo”, es tan excéntrico como entrañable, su repentina reaparición en el mundo moderno está repleta de momentos que son tanto extraños como conmovedores.. una de las primeras cosas que me llamó la atención fue cómo el anime aborda el choque cultural. Imagina despertar después de 17 años y darte cuenta de que casi todas las normas sociales y tecnologías que dabas por sentadas han cambiado completamente, el anime no deja esto como un simple detalle: lo convierte en una fuente principal de comedia.. hay un chiste recurrente sobre cómo nuestro “tío” lucha por entender cosas como los smartphones o el internet, lo cual, como fanático de la tecnología, me hizo reír y sentirme algo nostálgico, me encontré pensando: “Wow, ¿te imaginas tener que volver a aprender a usar un celular después de tanto tiempo?” Es una forma humorística pero sorprendentemente conmovedora de recordarnos lo rápido que avanza el mundo.

And well, if we talk about humor, people, the comedy here is some of the best, the funny thing is that they put everything in: the typical funny hits and falls, super awkward moments that make you feel sorry for them but you laugh, and even very direct dialogues that make fun of the typical isekai things, you know what I'm talking about... there are parts where the guy's really old ideas collide with today's world and boom! it's a laugh riot, like when he starts talking with such passion about Sega that I can't even imagine, that he loves it! and he starts dropping a ton of references to Sega games and consoles that, if you're an old school gamer, ugh!, you're going to love them and they give you an idea of what the guy was like before... if you're a Sega fan, those moments are pure gold, it gives you a really cool nostalgia, like a greeting to our inner gamer child, you know?

Another great thing is the relationship between the uncle and his nephew, Takafumi. Seeing how poor Takafumi deals with his uncle, who is quite a character, is like watching a live comedy... when he tries to help him adapt and all the chaos that ensues... it really touches your heart and makes you burst out laughing at the same time! And mind you, it's not just laughter... you can tell there's real affection there, that mix of 'oh, this guy is giving me gray hair!' but you still love him, it's probably familiar to you if you have special relatives, or even with your younger self... the conversations between them feel so natural that you almost forget you're watching an anime, it seems like you're right there in the middle of the conversation. Now, to be honest, there were times when I felt like the pace slowed down a bit, you know? Some chapters didn't really grab me, the jokes didn't make me laugh that much, or the story felt kind of repetitive... I liked that they dared to try things, even though sometimes they didn't turn out perfectly, it felt... I don't know, more honest... with its ups and downs.

Y bueno, si hablamos del humor, gente, la comedia aquí es de lo mejorcito, lo gracioso es que le meten de todo: los típicos golpes y caídas graciosas, momentos súper incómodos de esos que te dan pena ajena pero te ríes, y hasta diálogos bien directos que se burlan de las cosas típicas de los isekai, ya saben de qué hablo.. hay partes donde las ideas viejísimas del tío chocan con el mundo de ahora y ¡pum!, es un mate de risa, como cuando se pone a hablar con una pasión que ni les cuento de Sega, ¡que la ama!, y empieza a soltar un montón de referencias de juegos y consolas de Sega que, si eres gamer de la vieja escuela, ¡uf!, te van a encantar y te dan una idea de cómo era el tipo antes.. si eres fan de Sega, esos momentos son oro puro, te pega una nostalgia bien chévere, como un saludo a nuestro niño interior gamer, ¿saben?.

Otra cosa que está genial es la relación del tío con su sobrino, Takafumi, ver cómo el pobre Takafumi lidia con su tío, que es todo un personaje, es como estar viendo una comedia de enredos pero en vivo y en directo.. cuando intenta ayudarlo a adaptarse y todo el desmadre que se arma con eso.. es que te da ternura y te partes de risa a la vez! Y ojo, que no es solo risa y ya.. se nota que hay cariño de verdad ahí, esa mezcla de '¡ay, este tipo me saca canas verdes!' pero igual lo quieres, seguro les suena si tienen familiares medio especiales, o hasta con uno mismo cuando era más joven.. las conversaciones entre ellos se sienten tan naturales que casi se te olvida que estás viendo un anime, parece que estás ahí metido en la plática. Ahora, siendo honesto, sí hubo ratos en que sentí que el ritmo como que bajaba un poco, ¿saben? Algunos capítulos como que no me terminaron de enganchar, los chistes no me dieron tanta risa o la historia se sentía medio repetitiva.. me gustó que se atrevieran a probar cosas, aunque a veces no les saliera perfecto, se sintió... no sé, más honesto.. con sus subidas y bajadas.

Something that blew my mind was how this anime mixes the fantasy vibe with the real world stuff, it does it in a way that is super light, but suddenly, boom!, it makes you think a little... I mean, yes, the comedy is there in full force, but it seems that underneath they throw in a soft criticism of today's society, seeing the guy struggling to adapt is not just funny, it's like a mirror of our own anger with how quickly technology and customs change, it made me think about my things, how sometimes one misses that simplicity of before, but at the same time, how can I deny it!, we enjoy the comforts of now... then, pff!, there are the moments of pure magic, those scenes from when I was in the other world during the coma... they are great!

Visually they are crazy and the story there grabs you, they make a super marked contrast with the world of now, which is more normal but still a fun chaos, that vibe of jumping between the fantastical past and the present hooks you, leaves you hooked wanting to see how those two worlds are going to collide... I was waiting for every flashback, I wanted to know what was up with the magic and chaos that the guy lived through all that time he was missing! Another thing I liked was that it isn't afraid to be different, it doesn't try to be the usual isekai, you know? Instead, it asks the question: What happens after the adventure? How do you fit back into a world that moved on without you? And in doing that, it opens the door to a different way of telling stories that feels super fresh and even very personal... it's a break from the same stupid story of the hero who goes to another world.

Algo que me voló la cabeza fue cómo este anime mezcla la onda fantástica con los rollos del mundo real, lo hace de una forma que es súper ligera, pero que de repente, ¡pum!, te pone a pensar un poquito.. o sea, sí, la comedia está ahí a full, pero como que por debajito te tiran una crítica suavecita a la sociedad de hoy, ver al tío peleándose para adaptarse no es solo para que te dé risa, es como un espejo de nuestras propias rabias con lo rápido que cambia la tecnología y las costumbres, a mí me puso a pensar en mis cosas, en cómo a veces uno extraña esa simpleza de antes, pero al mismo tiempo, ¡cómo negarlo!, disfrutamos las comodidades de ahora.. luego, ¡pff!, están los momentos de magia pura, esas escenas de cuando estaba en el otro mundo durante el coma... ¡son geniales!

Visualmente son una locura y la historia ahí te atrapa, hacen un contraste súper marcado con el mundo de ahora, que es más normalito pero igual un caos divertido, esa onda de ir saltando entre el pasado fantástico y el presente te engancha, te deja picado queriendo ver cómo van a chocar esos dos mundos.. yo estuve esperando cada flashback, quería saber qué onda con la magia y el caos que vivió el tío en todo ese tiempo que estuvo desaparecido! Otra cosa que me gustó, fue que no le tiene miedo a ser diferente, no intenta ser el isekai de siempre, ¿entienden? Más bien, se avienta la pregunta: ¿Qué pasa después de la aventura? ¿Cómo le haces para volver a encajar en un mundo que siguió su camino sin ti? Y al hacer eso, abre la puerta a una forma distinta de contar historias que se siente súper fresca y hasta muy personal.. es un descanso de la misma estúpida historia del héroe que se va a otro mundo.

I give it an 8/10.. it’s not perfect, it had its little details here and there, its ups and downs.. but the heart they put into it, the humor, the originality of the idea... whew!, it makes up for all that and more.. the risk they took of turning the isekai on its head, and that fresh way of seeing modernity and nostalgia... for me, it’s a gem! La verdad, al final de la temporada, yo ya estaba enganchadísimo.. no solo por las risas, ¡eh!, sino por los personajes, por ver qué onda con ellos, le terminas agarrando cariño al tío, con todas sus locuras, porque es como esa idea de volver a empezar, aunque todo esté patas arriba.. su viaje no es solo de magia y aventuras, te pone a pensar en el tiempo, en cómo cambia la cultura, en ese choque entre lo viejo y lo nuevo.. díganme si no, ¿a quién no le ha pasado algo así en la vida? bueno, mi veredicto final..

Le doy un 8/10.. no es perfecto, tuvo sus detallitos por ahí, sus bajones.. pero el corazón que le meten, el humor, lo original de la idea... ¡uf!, compensa todo eso y más.. el riesgo que se tomaron de darle la vuelta al isekai, y esa forma tan fresca de ver la modernidad y la nostalgia... para mí, ¡es una joyita! Así que si andan buscando algo que no solo los haga reír a carcajadas, sino que también los deje pensando de una forma diferente, véanlo, es una aventura loquísima que te va a hacer reír, sentir esa penita ajena, a los fans del anime y a los curiosos: si no han visto esta serie, es una experiencia que mezcla la fantasía con lo de todos los días de una forma súper divertida y bien genuina, bueno, eso es todo por hoy.. nos vemos en las próximas reseñas, les déjate el opening por acá abajo!
