Hello everyone, I hope you are all well, this time I want to share a new review in this great community, today I will talk about: Undead Unluck... the truth is, when I heard the name for the first time, I didn't know what to think, it sounds really strange, I played the first chapter thinking: "Well, it's sure to be something fun to pass the time and that's it" .. let's see, I was expecting some laughs without much sense, and don't get me wrong, it's hilarious! but "senseless" is the last thing I would say about the tremendous story that is cooking underneath... the thing is that the first episodes are a complete mess, they throw you right into this world and it is chaos, but the good kind, things start with our protagonist, Izumi, who has a super unique and, honestly, very tragic power, which she calls "Unluck", or Bad Luck... anyone she touches, boom! a wave of misfortunes falls on them that can range from silly to fatal, catastrophic..

Because of this, the poor girl has lived isolated, without being able to connect with anyone, to the point that she's ready to throw in the towel.. and just when she's about to let a train end it all, she's interrupted by our other protagonist, a guy who calls himself Andy.. this is where things get wild: Andy's power is to be “Undead”, an undead, the guy, literally, can't die.. he's been looking for a way to kill himself for years and sees in Izumi's “Bad Luck” his golden ticket to achieve it, thus, out of nowhere, this forced alliance is formed between two desires that are the opposite, but that need each other, it sounds like the typical beginning of an adventure shonen.

Hola a todos, espero que estén bien, en esta ocasión, les quiero compartir una nueva reseña en esta gran comunidad, el día de hoy les hablaré de: Undead Unluck.. la verdad, cuando escuché el nombre por primera vez, no sabía ni qué pensar, es que suena rarísimo, le di play al primer capítulo pensando: “Bueno, seguro es algo divertido para pasar el rato y ya”.. a ver, me esperaba unas risas sin mucho sentido, y no me malentiendan, ¡es divertidísimo!, pero “sin sentido” es lo último que diría de la tremenda historia que se está cocinando por debajo.. es que los primeros episodios son un completo desmadre, te avientan de lleno a este mundo y es un caos, pero del bueno, la cosa empieza con nuestra prota, Izumi, que tiene un poder súper único y, la verdad, bien trágico, que ella llama “Unluck”, o sea, Mala Suerte.. cualquiera que ella toca, ¡pum!, le cae una ola de desgracias que puede ir desde una tontería hasta algo fatal, catastrófico..

Por esto, la pobre ha vivido aislada, sin poder conectar con nadie, al punto que ya está lista para tirar la toalla.. y justo cuando está a punto de dejar que un tren termine con todo, la interrumpe nuestro otro prota, un tipo que se hace llamar Andy.. aquí es donde la cosa se pone salvaje: el poder de Andy es ser “Undead”, un no-muerto, el tipo, literal, no se puede morir.. lleva años buscando la forma de matarse y ve en la “Mala Suerte” de Izumi su boleto de oro para lograrlo, así, de la nada, se arma esta alianza forzada entre dos deseos que son todo lo contrario, pero que se necesitan, suena como el inicio típico de un shonen de aventura.

But what really caught me, what makes this series so special, is how they use their powers… I mean, we’ve seen super strength and super speed a million times before, but Undead Unluck takes those ideas and runs with them in the most creative, and sometimes even bizarre, ways imaginable. The way Andy uses his “Undead” power… it’s crazy! It’s so over the top it’s ridiculous, and that’s why I love it. He can use parts of his body like bullets, he rips his own head off and uses it like a grenade, and he even has a katana stuck in his back! I mean, you have to forget about logic a little, but that’s what it’s all about, that’s the magic… it’s that go-for-broke, fearless attitude that makes the fights brutal… talking about fights!

Holy crap, the animation in this series is next level, of course, how could it be otherwise! If you find out that it's done by David Productions, the same studio that went all out with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure... there are moments in the fights that remind you of the epicness of series like Mob Psycho, Jujutsu Kaisen or even My Hero Academia, the movement is super fluid, the choreography is crystal clear and the visual spectacle leaves you speechless. With one of the first big fights it has, that alone is worth giving it a chance, even if the story doesn't hook you completely at first, the animators really put their all into it... the art isn't just in the fights, huh?

The character designs have that unique, very authorial touch, which feels like a breath of fresh air in a world full of anime with generic designs, where all the protagonists look like Kirito with a different hairstyle, Undead Unluck really breaks the mold... the super vibrant colors are another thing I loved, everything is so alive and beautiful, and that creates a great contrast with how violent and graphic everything gets at times. It reminds me a bit of Happy Tree Friends, you know? One of those where the art style is all cute and you get overconfident, and suddenly BAM!, everything turns into carnage.

Pero lo que de verdad me atrapó, lo que hace que esta serie sea tan especial, es cómo usan los poderes.. a ver, ya hemos visto la súper fuerza y la súper velocidad un millón de veces, pero Undead Unluck agarra esas ideas y las exprime al máximo de las formas más creativas y, a veces, hasta bizarras que se puedan imaginar, y es que la forma en que Andy usa su poder de “Undead”... ¡es una locura!, es tan exagerado que se pasa de ridículo, y por eso me fascina, puede usar partes de su cuerpo como si fueran balas, se arranca la cabeza y la usa como si fuera una granada, y hasta tiene una katana metida en la espalda! O sea, te tienes que olvidar un poco de la lógica, pero de eso se trata, esa es la magia.. es esa actitud de ir con todo, sin miedo a nada, lo que hace que las peleas sean brutales.. hablando de peleas!

Dios santo, la animación de esta serie es otro nivel, claro, ¡cómo no!, si te enteras de que la hace David Productions, el mismo estudio que se rifó con Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.. hay momentos en las peleas que te recuerdan a la epicidad de series como Mob Psycho, Jujutsu Kaisen o hasta My Hero Academia, el movimiento es súper fluido, las coreografías están clarísimas y el espectáculo visual te deja con la boca abierta. Con una de las primeras peleas grandes que tiene, ya con eso vale la pena darle una oportunidad, aunque la historia al principio no te enganche del todo, de verdad que los animadores echaron toda la carne al asador.. el arte no se queda solo en las peleas, ¿eh?

Los diseños de personajes tienen ese toque único, muy del autor, que se siente como aire fresco, en un mundo lleno de animes con diseños genéricos, donde todos los protas parecen un Kirito con otro peinado, Undead Unluck de verdad que rompe el molde.. los colores súper vibrantes son otra cosa que me encantó, todo es tan vivo y bonito, y eso crea un contraste genial con lo violento y gráfico que se pone todo a ratos. Me recuerda un poco a Happy Tree Friends, ¿saben? De esos que el estilo de arte es todo tierno y te confías, y de repente ¡PUM!, todo se vuelve una carnicería.

Okay, let’s talk a little about the character designs, because I know this is an issue for some… our friend Andy is… well, let’s not pretend, he’s super hot, he spends a good amount of time on screen half naked, which is part of the joke and has to do with his powers… on the other hand there’s Fuko, who was designed as the typical short girl with curves, and yes, there’s a lot of fan service with her, and look, I understand perfectly that this might put some people off, it’s a super valid criticism… but you could say that the fan service has its reasons in the plot, in a series that is totally crazy in itself, well I’ll let that go, it doesn’t bother me. The chemistry between Andy and Fuko is the soul of the series, they have an incredible connection and their interactions create a riot of physical comedy that, although it doesn't invent anything new, is well done and always, always makes me laugh, what starts as a forced alliance, super rushed, quickly you realize that it is becoming something much deeper...

With just a few chapters you already see the seeds of a character development that is going to be great for both of them, and the truth is that I am really excited to see where their journey together will take them. The further I went, the more I realized that my initial idea that it was just “a fun anime to pass the time” was completely wrong, the story starts to drop clues of a much bigger, more complex world, you start to hear about secret organizations, other people with these really weird powers and a lot of mysteries... it has all the ingredients of the shonen formula that we already know by heart, but here it feels fresh, you get the feeling that there is a much denser and more badass story hidden underneath.

A ver, hablemos un toque de los diseños de personajes, porque sé que esto para algunos es un tema.. nuestro compa Andy está… pues, para qué nos hacemos, está mamadísimo, se la pasa un buen de tiempo en pantalla medio encuerado, que es parte del chiste y tiene que ver con sus poderes.. por otro lado está Fuko, que la diseñaron como la típica chaparrita con curvas, y sí, hay bastante fan service con ella, y a ver, entiendo perfecto que esto a algunos les pueda tirar para atrás, es una crítica súper válida.. pero se podría decir que el fan service tiene sus razones en la trama, en una serie que de por sí es una locura total, pues como que se lo paso, no me molesta. La química entre Andy y Fuko es el alma de la serie, tienen una conexión increíble y sus interacciones crean un desmadre de comedia física que, aunque no inventa nada nuevo, está bien hecha y siempre, siempre me saca una carcajada, lo que empieza como una alianza a la fuerza, súper apurada, rapidito te vas dando cuenta de que se está volviendo algo mucho más profundo..

Con poquitos capítulos ya ves las semillitas de un desarrollo de personajes que va a estar buenísimo para los dos, y la verdad que me emociona un montón ver a dónde los va a llevar su viaje juntos. Mientras más avanzaba, más me daba cuenta de que mi idea inicial de que era solo “un anime divertido para pasar el rato” estaba completamente equivocada, la historia te empieza a soltar pistas de un mundo mucho más grande, más complejo, empiezas a oír de organizaciones secretas, de otra gente con estos poderes rarísimos y un montón de misterios.. tiene todos los ingredientes de la fórmula shonen que ya conocemos de memoria, pero aquí se siente fresca, te va quedando esa sensación de que hay una historia mucho más densa y cabrona escondida por ahí debajo.

So what's my verdict on Undead Unluck? Well this awesome, chaotic mix of comedy, action, and intrigue is just ridiculously entertaining. If you’re a fan of shonen anime like Fire Force, you’re almost guaranteed to love it. It has that same energy of a story that starts off strong and gets more and more interesting and complex as it goes on. I have a feeling this is a series that’s going to build a very dedicated fanbase, and rightfully so. We’ll likely be seeing more seasons of this.

For my final rating, I’m giving Undead Unluck a solid 8.5/10. It’s not perfect, and I can see how some of the over-the-top elements or fan service might not be to everyone’s taste. But for me, the sheer, uninhibited fun, incredible animation, surprising depth to its world, and fantastic character dynamics make it a must-see. It completely exceeded my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a shot. You’ll know right away if its brand of madness is for you. And well, that’s all for today, I’ll just leave the opening here. Take care of yourselves! Pues esta increíble y caótica mezcla de comedia, acción e intriga es simplemente ridículamente entretenida, si eres fan de animes shonen como Fire Force, es casi seguro que te encantará, tiene esa misma energía de una historia que comienza fuerte y se vuelve cada vez más interesante y compleja a medida que avanza, tengo la sensación de que esta es una serie que va a construir una base de fans muy dedicada, y con razón.. es probable que veamos más temporadas de esto..

Para mi calificación final, le doy a Undead Unluck un sólido 8.5/10, no es perfecto, y puedo ver cómo algunos de sus elementos exagerados o el fan service pueden no ser del gusto de todos.. pero para mí, la pura y desinhibida diversión, la increíble animación, la sorprendente profundidad de su mundo y las fantásticas dinámicas de los personajes la convierten en una visita obligada, superó por completo mis expectativas.. recomiendo de todo corazón que le den una oportunidad, sabrán de inmediato si su tipo de locura es para ustedes.. y bueno, esto es todo por hoy, les dejaré el opening aquí abajo, cuidense mucho!
