I didn't like the opening and ending either, I think they should have put more heart into it being a slow arc because it is indeed a slow arc.
Now the season finale paid for everything, I haven't seen the manga so I'm waiting and with the hype at the maximum because there are many opinions that say the same as you .... what's coming is of power 😱

They lacked a bit of spark honestly in terms of music, but as for the animation of the op/end they were pretty good, and there's the odd spoiler in there!
