¡Hola, hola!

In this project, I was in charge of character design, backgrounds design and draw the pages. It was a Manga with cyberpunk vibes

Hey there!

How’s everything going? I hope you’re doing great.

Today I want to dive into a topic that’s been on my mind lately: creative collaborations. Have you ever thought about how enriching it can be to work hand in hand with screenwriters and other artists? Throughout this wild journey in the world of comics and manga, I’ve discovered that joining forces with fellow creators not only boosts your projects but also opens the door to completely new ways of telling stories.

When I first stepped into this universe, my focus was solely on getting my ideas on paper. But it didn’t take long to realize that when you bounce off ideas with writers and artists from other specialties, the final outcome becomes something much more solid and organic. It’s like each person adds their own little piece, and when you put all those pieces together, you create something that none of you could have achieved on your own.

One of the key ingredients for a successful collaboration is communication. There’s nothing worse than assuming everyone’s on the same page without checking in! When you work with a screenwriter, for instance, it’s essential to set goals and ensure that everyone understands the tone you want to infuse into the story. It’s not just about sending emails or messages; it’s that constant exchange—almost like a live conversation—that really helps the ideas flow smoothly. I always try to maintain an open dialogue, where you can propose, discard, or tweak ideas without fear of making a mistake.

Another aspect I love is the diversity of styles. While each person has their own signature style, merging different perspectives can lead to unexpected and amazing results. Imagine handing your sketch over to a screenwriter and they say, “What if, instead of that dialogue, we add a dash of sarcasm to this character?” or “maybe that background could be more expressive if you work on it with dramatic shadows.” It’s in these moments that creativity ignites, and you realize that the magic truly lies in collaboration. It’s not about giving up your individuality, but about fusing talents so your project gains layers and nuances that would otherwise remain hidden.

In my own projects, I’ve found that collaborating with digital artists and animation technicians brings incredible new insights that greatly enrich the visual narrative. Everyone has their unique way of seeing things, and by blending these viewpoints, the final product takes on a depth that’s hard to reach when working alone. In this way, collaboration becomes a real creative exercise where you share not only the workload but also the excitement of building something together.

Of course, this journey isn’t without its challenges. Coordinating schedules, aligning different work methods, and sometimes dealing with creative differences can seem daunting. What I’ve learned is that these differences are exactly what test and strengthen the collaborative bond. Instead of viewing disagreements as obstacles, I try to see them as opportunities to learn and grow. It’s an ongoing process of negotiation and, above all, mutual respect. Everyone understands that the goal is to bring out the best in the project, and that creates a very positive working environment.

It’s also crucial to keep an open mind for accepting suggestions and constructive criticism. Working with screenwriters and other artists has allowed me to see my illustrations and ideas from a fresh perspective. Sometimes a single word or a small comment can spark creativity that turns the narrative on its head. In essence, it’s a constant reminder that the creative process is always about learning, and that no one holds the absolute truth about what is “good” or “right” in art.

Lastly, it’s important not to forget the value of setting clear boundaries and defining roles right from the start of any collaboration. Knowing who is responsible for what and what the expectations are prevents misunderstandings and lets everyone feel comfortable contributing their part. Having a clear structure—without being overly rigid—makes it easier for the project to move forward naturally and without hitches.

Taking the plunge into creative collaborations can be one of the most rewarding steps you take in the world of comics and manga. The synergy that emerges when you share ideas, techniques, and different perspectives not only enhances the quality of the project, but also enriches your journey as an artist. So, if you haven’t yet explored this collaborative side, I encourage you to take that first step. Dare to share, to engage in dialogue, and most of all, to experiment with new forms of expression.

I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support. Your enthusiasm and commitment make exploring this fascinating world such a unique and rewarding experience. And if you’d like to catch more drawing tips, speed paints, and other creative tidbits, I invite you to join my YouTube channel or TikTok account, where I share plenty of extra content. See you over there!

Big hugs and catch you in the next post!

¡Muchas gracias! ✨☺️🎶

Very interesting seriously

Thank you! Glad to know you enjoy the reading!

You are welcome

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you very much for your feedback. I would like to explain the process I follow to maintain a certain continuity and order in publishing on my blog:

  1. I plan my content 30 days in advance for theoretical or informative topics. This list of possible topics is selected based on questions I had at the beginning of my journey as a mangaka and illustrator, as well as questions I often see in artists’ groups, which I note down and add to my list of topics. In the case of posts related to illustrations, there is no prior planning since it depends on what inspires me to draw during the month, although I do have a list of ideas I usually consult as a source of inspiration.
  2. If you check the pattern of my posts, you will notice that there are days each week when I do not publish, generally on weekends. These days are reserved for preparing the weekly post drafts and researching theoretical topics to share, which I then integrate with my personal experience in illustration.
  3. I do use a template that I created for content with an educational purpose. This serves as a mnemonic resource for regular readers, making it easier for them to recall topics that are connected by the same pattern.
  4. My posts are published in Spanish first and then in English. This is because I develop the topic in my own language and then translate it into English. Yes, I sometimes use Google Translate to rephrase expressions, and I include a disclaimer in my English post because, while I am proficient in English, I do not possess the same skill as a native speaker.
  5. I write my posts in Word and keep a record of all the publications I make.
  6. I do not write the posts directly in the app since I suffer from visual problems and have to zoom in up to more than 200% to be able to read what I do and try to avoid spelling mistakes as much as possible. It is not something I often mention, but it is a bit limiting.
  7. Since there is no internet access in the area where I live, I have to do everything from my mobile phone. I transfer the file from my laptop to my phone, copy it, paste it into the app, and add the images corresponding to the day’s post.
  8. As for my illustrations, all of them are created from scratch by me. When I share an exclusive post about an illustration, I include screenshots of the process, and many of the speed paints are available on my YouTube and TikTok channels. I used to do live streams to show the process while sharing with my followers, but due to internet limitations, it has been impossible to continue them. In the case of reference images from famous anime or manga creators, I include the author's name and the work to give proper credit.

I understand that we are very sensitive about the topic of AIs. I am not aware if, when adjusting phrases, they may sound similar to those generated by them, since, as I mentioned, I am not a native speaker and, from my perspective—which may, of course, be completely wrong—they sound understandable to my international community.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and for sending me your observation, which I will take into account to improve the content I share with my community.

Have an excellent day,

My pleasure, Sir/ Madam!
