Si eres artista, ilustrador o aspirante a narrador visual, sabrás que cada método tiene sus particularidades y encanto. Así que, acomódate, prepara tus materiales o tu tablet y acompáñame en este análisis donde exploraremos las ventajas, desafíos y matices de ambas técnicas.

Todo parte de la pasión por transmitir relatos a través del arte. La ejecución tradicional, con sus trazos realizados a mano, nos conecta con la esencia clásica del manga, donde cada línea es impregnada de la personalidad del artista. Recuerdo mis inicios con el lápiz y la tinta, cuando la precisión y el detalle en cada trazo resultaban imponentes y, a la vez, exigentes. Con el tiempo, aprendí a apreciar la calidez y autenticidad que ofrece esta técnica, aunque requiera un ritmo pausado y mucho ensayo.

Al inicio me enfoqué en el arte tradicional. Practicaba estilo de cómic americano. Esta es una página de práctica del cómic "Darkness". Está hecha sobre cartulina opalina y entintado con tinta china pinceles y plumillas. No me gustaba utilizar marcadores.

Por otro lado, la creación digital ha revolucionado la manera de trabajar, ofreciendo una flexibilidad asombrosa y herramientas que facilitan la corrección y experimentación. La paleta de colores, las capas y los efectos especiales permiten conseguir resultados que, de otro modo, serían laboriosos de lograr. Sin embargo, lo digital también demanda un dominio particular de la tecnología y puede implicar una inversión en tiempo para familiarizarse con sus programas y funciones.

Cada método ofrece un universo de posibilidades. La técnica tradicional invita a valorar el proceso artesanal, donde el trazo espontáneo y la textura del papel se convierten en expresiones únicas de la creatividad del artista. En contraposición, el medio digital brinda la oportunidad de crear de forma inmediata, facilitando la producción de bocetos rápidos y la experimentación con filtros y efectos que agregan profundidad y sutileza a la obra.

Uno de los puntos cruciales para decidirse entre uno u otro estilo es identificar cuál se ajusta mejor a la narrativa y estética que deseas transmitir. Analiza si tu historia se beneficia de la inmediatez y versatilidad de lo digital, o si prefieres la atemporalidad y el carácter artesanal del dibujo tradicional. A veces, la fusión de ambos métodos puede resultar en una propuesta innovadora que combine lo mejor de cada mundo.

Cuando comencé a trabajar ilustración digital ya me había enfocado en el estilo manga y anime. Sin embargo, a pesar de trabajar en digital sigo haciéndolo al estilo tradicional muy pocas veces me gusta utilizar pinceles con texturas Y prefiero interpretarlas. Es fundamental recordar que, al final del día, lo que realmente importa es el mensaje y cómo éste conecta con el público. Cada trazo, ya sea digital o sobre papel, es una oportunidad para plasmar un relato propio y singular.
