Angel of light | A study | Splinterland entry!

in Alien Art Hive16 days ago

And so it has been another few weeks that I couldn't draw. This was mainly because I was busy with work but also busy fooling around again. I kind of met someone that I like and now we're on special terms ^^
Thus the huge distraction. Otherwise, I would have remained completely focused on my goals for the month.
Anyway, I do have time now because my little fling had to return to his home country and won't be returning for 2 months. I do think that's a reasonable amount of time to get to know each other better before actually thinking of pursuing anything romantic.

Though this fling did inspire this somewhat flirtatious drawing this time.

Software used: Medibang paint
Duration: 5 hours

This was lovely based of angel of light

I kind of made this angel a bit soft and flirty with the body but I kind of failed to translate that into the eyes because I'm still not that good with making expressions from a distance. Idk I just feel like I can only either make good expressions right now or make good body language and there is just no in between with this.

This pose was also loosely based off a picture my fling took of me while we were at his place and idk, It just looked so soft and so fun and I wanted to draw that.

For the process:

This was the sketch that started it all. Although I was already botching out colors, thinking I could work on it on the same day too. Idk I just really thought that would be the final sketch I'd follow, but come the colors and I got a bit lost with the flow.

And you know when you hit a really bad block in your drawing so you kind of just end up hyper fixating on some parts that you know would go completely unnoticed? That's basically what happened to me after this point.

Because the I just started fixating on the body, and the dress and the way the head was tilted, but what I didn't focus on enough was the expression of flirting with the camera.

Here, you can see that I've just been building up that shadow layer because I wanted more depth, but forgot I was also going for a more muted and warm palette to make her look softer and more gentle on the eyes.

What I remembered later on was the purple-is sash around her waist that I think held up the robe-dress? So that came on a little late. Then I worked on the expression last which was a horrible idea because I constantly had to liquidate the face and mesh transform it to get the features and angels that I wanted. That in itself took me an hour before I actually gave up and just moved forward with the wings.

Then this is my final piece ^^ I will be working on more drawings for the next 2 months so I hope you guys can bear with me and I hope I can really stay consistent when my biggest distraction is away for now.

That's all from me for today! Thanks for stopping by!

My thinking was that without outline there is no look of a sketch. But you nailed it. You changed my point of view. Without outline this is looking just woww.

because I blend the outlines into the detailing which basically removes them while it gets more and more detailed. I appreciate you stopping by
