Sketchtember day 15: Teeth

in Alien Art Hive4 days ago

Hello my lovelies ^^ How are you today? I am so proud of myself for making it halfway through Sketchtember and I'm still going strong! My art is improving day by day even though I firmly believe that this just because I've been getting enough sleep again XD But also because I've been in a pretty good and chill mood since last week so it kind of reflects a bit on my art.
For the phobia on today's list, we have Odonthophobia which is the fear of teeth and it's very different from dentophobia because that's the fear of dentists XD
I can get why people would fear teeth though. Some were probably caused by bites, or like their teeth falling out, or someone else's teeth falling out, but I did see this nightmare fuel where people had excessive amounts of teeth. And sometimes they have those extra teeth embedded in their mouths, some use teeth as accessories and it really creeps me out, more on a sanitary note than on an aesthetic one, but yeah, I don't like those ;;-;;

Materials: Markers rainbow pen
Duration: 2.3 hours

I've actually been
taking longer to finish drawings now because my drawing area doubled in size XD I used to draw on such small paper straps and I could finish a drawing in an hour or so, but now that I'm back to a sketchpad, I am actually trying to make an effort here XD Just so the book looks presentable if I ever get the courage to show it to people.

So this is the progression

I started with my usual sketch approach and then blackened the surrounding area with a black marker. This on was the fast part because it barely took me 30 minutes

But this part where I had to figure out what to do with the skintone... like, I wanted vampire but in what era am I in that vampires are ghostly pale like that, so I added a bit of fleshy color to the skin by using a warm gray marker for this. And I like that warm gray set, it gives off such a homely and cozy color to it, like I wasn't drawing a vampire here XD Then I went ahead and used a brown pen to do the features markers couldn't give me, like the shading because the other warm gray markers in my set were too dark after this color and I wasn't happy about it XD

More details but I have started to use the other pen colors and I used like this deep red kind of brown pen I have, it' snot maroon but I do like the shade of it.

Then this was my shot before I added most of the depth and the highlights ^^ I am torn with how it turned out because it looks good to me but there's just so much negative space at the bottom XD and I did not know what to do with that part, honestly.

But that is day 15 ^^ I will be moving onto day 16 in a little bit. I have mostly been hibernating again and I am not too excited for this upcoming Monday ;;-;;
Pray for my soul that I can squeeze in a lot of time and energy to do day 16 because drawing saints feel pretty hard.

That is it for me for today, I hope to see you guys again tomorrow ^^ Have a good day everyoneeeee

This is impressive. Odonthophobia might be a new word to us but we are happy to learn about this from you.

Your drawing invoked deep emotions, especially for those who love vampire films and art.

You took great care of the details and we admire that. Well done.

We hope you will continue to stay chill and sleep enough so your creativity will flourish and inspire you to finish the rest of the inktober. Good luck.

thank you so much for taking notice of this drawing ^^ i do love a good vampire and horror film too which is why i chose this concept to draw
