Today I tried my best to finish up one so digital piece I had started late last week. The week even though it’s just beginning has been a bit challenging and I must say that this is the initial motivation I had to make this piece and the others I haven’t posted. If you can recall in my previous Splinterlands entries I talked about how I stumbled on a number of well proportioned vectors on Pinterest and reshaped them to sooth my intent. The reshaping is in no wise easy and takes hours to do but I endure this mainly because the faces have many physical features I haven’t properly mastered. If you look at the piece and that of the vector which I used you would easily notice the difference I am talking about.
The Undead Priest I must say is a personal favorite. It reminds me of the Mummy movie which as a kid my older siblings didn’t allow me see. They told me that I would be so scared and probably follow everywhere as a result of the scare. The sad thing was all my friends at school had seen the three parts and there I was hanging to my siblings’ words. I saw the movie later on when I was an adult and wasn’t at all scared. I felt betrayed truly but kept calm. So years about this time two years ago when I saw the Undead Priest card I was drawn to it. I did one beautiful piece back then. Infact it was the first digital piece I did without a lineart. So, while making this I poured a lot of attention to detail. I wanted to wrap her entirely in grave cloth and make her face skeletony with purple skin. I later changed my mind.
For the background I spoke with my brother Timothy and threw some ideas at him. He picked the one with the priest coming out of a tunnel and I kind of vibed to that too. The tunnel might not be properly illustrated but the idea of it is.
The process....
Its been fun hosting you friends, thanks for stopping by.
