We humans always wear several masks in our lives... It's only when we take off those masks that we can relax and let our true animal essence come out.
Well, my people, another week has passed, and the time has come to tokenize a new NFT on @nftshowroom For this week, I've decided to move away from the space theme and offer you more conceptual art.
My theme this time is the animal essence hidden behind the human mask, and I've decided to represent it with this friendly, elegantly dressed crocodile, having a private dinner with other companions from the animal kingdom.
What I want to express here is that deep within each of us, we still see a primitive essence, which has not ceased to be latent. Certainly, the process of civilization involves fighting against this and achieving moderation in our behavior, but deep down, some of this essence is always preserved.
At the same time, I wanted to give the work a fun touch, but with a certain contrast and deep textures that still lend a seriousness to the piece.
The fact that my protagonist is a crocodile isn't really due to anything in particular. I'd had this idea for a long time. I'd worked on it before, but the results hadn't satisfied me, and then I decided to revisit it until I got this result, which left me very happy.
Since I was a child, I've always found it fun to see animals in human situations, and even as an adult, I enjoy these plots.
I couldn't have imagined this work in any other place than a restaurant, since for me, it's a place that represents good manners and the behavior that others show for our own good. It's also a place where people come to eat and show good table manners, especially if it's an elegant restaurant. So, there definitely couldn't have been a better place to place these characters.
At the same time, when we're in an elegant restaurant (those who've been there will know this), we often repress certain traits in our behavior. We try not to touch certain foods with our hands, for example, we try to moderate our tone of voice, and we try to eat slowly even if the food is very tasty and we're supposed to eat it quickly.
It seems to me that in these types of situations, the human duality between the civilized and the primitive has small discrepancies; and the way I've represented it is how I think these discrepancies are seen.
The work is now available on NFTShowroom, and I've only created one edition. For the time being, I'm not going to continue creating multi-edition NFTs and have returned to preferring unique editions; in my opinion, they are the ones that give a work the most long-term value. Besides, there can only be one owner.
