My first Buckthorn creation this year

I am back in Minnesota, which was not my plan, but it's warm enough now that I can spen my nights in the garage making wooden thingys.
I have recently become obsessed with the Vinča culture of the ancient Balkans. That will probably be a post unto itself, but many of the statues that have been found from that culture look like aliens. They are super cool, and after seeing them I wanted to make a Vinča-like thingy out of Buckthorn.
It doesn't look very Vinča-like, but it's name is Vinča.

I'm just experimenting with the colors, but I think red and black are probably going to stay.
Vinča looks like an owlish bird, but it's also a club. Buckthorn is dense and heavy, and I could certainly smash things with it.

Vinča is fun to play with, and since life in the suburbs is pretty isolating, I will have plenty of time.

This is a pre-historic Hot Wheels car!

Wow that looks mythical. It also looks complicated to be carved out of wood. But I want to see your finished project!

Sort of has the look of a Pacific Northwest Totem. It seems that ancient cultures, even if not directly related, have some points where they are similar, yet unique. I trace this back to the monomyth and all our common origin.
