Mysterious Katshi pillar in Georgia

Сподіваюся що і ви, знайдете в моєму блозі якусь місцинку, в яку захочете поїхати. Отже, натрапила я недавно на фото дуже незвичайної скелі, яка майже торкається неба. І вирішила взнати детальніше про неї. Сьогодні переказую вам. Приємного читання:

I continue my online hunt for all sorts of exciting places. It said, make my own travel list for future. I hope that you will find some place that you want to visit too. Recently I came across a photo of a very unusual rock that almost touches the sky. And decided to learn more about it. Now I tell you. Enjoy reading:

Кацхійский стовп висотою у 40 метрів, знаходиться в безпосередній близькості від грузинського міста Чіатура.
Він являє собою вапняковий скельний моноліт, який чітко височіє над навколишніми лісами та пагорбами.

Katshi pillar 40 meters high is located near the Georgian city of Chiatura.
It is a limestone rock monolith that clearly rises above the surrounding forests and hills.

Кажуть, що коли дивишся на нього, є відчуття ніби його вершина зустрічається з небом. В давнину місцеві вважали стовп символом Бога родючості. Навіть після приходу християнства до Грузії, сакральне значення стовпа збереглось. Люди вірили, що на його вершині можна стати ближче до Господа, тому звели там церкву між VI і VIII століттями.

It is said that when you look at it, there is a feeling as if its top meets the sky. In ancient times, locals considered the pillar a symbol of the God of fertility. Even after the arrival of Christianity in Georgia, the sacred significance of the pillar remained. People believed that on top of it you can get closer to the Lord, so they built a church there between the VI and VIII centuries.

Вони підіймались нагору використовуючи залишену альпіністами драбину. Зараз в Кацхійському стовпі стоїть кам'яна церква побудована на рубежі XX і XXI століть. Вона зведена на руїнах старого храму та відрізняється скромним внутрішнім оздобленням.

They climbed up using a ladder left by the climbers. Now in the Katshi pillar there is a stone church built at the turn of XX and XXI centuries. It is built on the ruins of an old temple and has a modest interior.
