Chapter Sixteen
A week after the argument with Michelle I decided to visit him in other to clear things, I knocked gently on his door and he opened up at the third knock staring at me surprisingly.
I knew he wasn't expecting me anytime soon in his apartment,"can i come in," I asked kind of coldly.
"Yeah sure sorry come in,"he said ushering me in.
"Michelle I came to make something clear to you, i want you to know have forgiven about what happened before but I don't like the way you are interfering and poking your nose in my matters,"
"Babe am your best friend and even though I kept my feelings for a very long time i know you can sense it that I like you and like is even an understatement Miriam you surely know i do love you and i can't just stand to see you with someone else," he said calmly.
"But am not your girl you are making people think we have some kind of relationship and I don't like it," I said firmly.
"Fine but I miss you and wish we could go back to being normal please Miriam,"
"We are still friends but I want you to forget about the benefit or satisfying each other's urge between us," I said and he stared at me shocked at my sentence.
"Really,but.... Okay fine am good with it,if that's what will make you happy it's alright by me. So since we are clear you should at least sit now and eat something with me,"
"Am fine i ate before I left my apartment and I have someone i wanted to visit before coming over so I can't sit now will see later,"I replied and made to leave.
"So you are already visiting him in his apartment,"he said.
"Who? I don't get you Michelle,"
"Tobi of course, the guy you claim to be your new friend,"he blurted angrily.
"Really,what do you take me for Michelle a whore.. you are so unbelievable so.........,"I was about to continue
"Miriam am sorry I don't mean to,am sorry okay,"he apologized grabbing my hands gently.
"It's fine am leaving see you around,"I said and finally left.

I didn't really have anyone i wanted to visit but I wasn't ready to spend my weekend at Michelle's apartment that was why I lied.
I was walking slowly on the road that leads to my apartment when I bumped into Tobi.
""Hey hi,"he greeted politely
"Hi Tobi happy weekend,"I replied.
" I came out to get sardines and you are you going out?.......,"
"Nope I was coming from a friend house do you mind if I come in your place I'm too bored at my own apartment,"I asked dubiously.
"Yeah.......sure you are welcome,"he answered sounding unsure.
We both headed inside ,his place was a one bedroom flat and very well furnished. I sat on the sofa in the sitting room while he went to bring a drink and said he wanted to finish his cooking.
When he was done cooking you dished me a lunch of yam and egg and also for himself we both sat eating silently until I broke the silence.
"This is actually delicious you are such a good cook,"I said admirly
"Ohh thank you,"he replied simply.
After lunch we played ludo and he taught me all the tactics to become a better player, He didn't really seems what he acts like in school although he was gentle and cool but he was an easy type get along with and friendly.
After we were done playing for sometime I told him I was leaving and he escorted me outside and thanked me for making his weekend fun, I replied him that it was my pleasure and that I had fun too and then I finally left thinking all the way home "who this strange new friend of mine was,"? He does not walk with the ladies talk less of speaking to them but why choosing me of all to be his friend? I kept wondering if he had a mission but then it made me more anxious to find out by continuing this friendship thing.

Finally we were done with our third year and I went to ikeja to spend my vacation and in order to get ready for the last year in school.
Michelle and I still goes out once in a while but then I managed to stop some of the things we did together which he was not pleased with.
Tobi has been nice all through the semester, during the vacation we chatted on WhatsApp mostly talking about what was happening around the world because I noticed he didn't really like having a conversation about personal life and that kept me in suspense if he was keeping something exactly.
My vacation was bored at home as always but then that very evening I went to get something at the supermarket close to our house, After paying for the goods I bought I headed towards the door and suddenly collided with someone.
"Are you blind or.............,"I wanted to continue but then I back into this guy's face the last person on my mind it's been a while I've thought about him.

Silently having my dinner when I heard a knock on our door my parents were inside they had had their dinner early, our maid came out of the kitchen to answer the knock she open the door and exchange pleasantries with the Cooker's youngest daughter Rihanna, I kept wondering what she was doing here at this time of the night.
And she walked close to me and said hi and I answered politely,she asked the maid where my parents was and then they both proceeded upstairs.
Few minutes later I was done with my food and went to my room, I was about entering when I sighted mum and Rihanna working towards me.
"Hey Tobi would you mind sharing your room with Rihanna tonight the guest room is kind of disordered," she said.
"But mom we have more than three guest rooms here she could use the one downstairs," I replied coldly.
"C'mon don't be silly just tonight she will be leaving tomorrow morning she said ushering her inside not even waiting to hear my next comment.

I sat on the sofa in my room concentrating on my laptop I can't surely share the bed with her. It was about 12 a.m. in the morning but I was still on my laptop when I felt someone's hands caressing my shoulders.
"Would you mind coming to bed I'm lonely and don't tell me you're planning to spend tonight on the sofa,"she said irritating me.
"At first I would like you to get your hands off my shoulder and secondly it's none of your business if I spend my night on the sofa all thanks to you,".
"C'mon daddy yo you shouldn't reply a conversation that way it's just the two of us here why don't we try something on the sofa if you plan to spend it here anyway," she said tried to kiss me, I got angry and pushed her off my body she staggered backwards then I got up and walked out of the room I hate the whole lot of ladies with their seduction traits.

Laying on my bed I kept remembering that afternoon scene at the supermarket door he was the last person I was expecting to see here in ikeja in the next five years staring at the ceiling I kept wondering what David came to do here in ikeja I could still smell his perfume on my fingers but then I had ran out of the supermarket that afternoon feeling hurt once again he ran after me and grabbed my arms saying we needed to talk but I had nothing to talk about with him .
But then he begged me into giving him my cell phone number at least saying he was going to call I kept wondering why David appeared back in my life all of a sudden? What kind of game is fate playing?.
