As I behold the shattered mirror I see,
Shadows of the person used to be;
Caught in the razor sharp fragments of glass,
Are bits and pieces of my tumultuous past.
I know I view myself through jaded eyes,
That’s really not a big surprise;
For those many horrors I did behold,
Have left a mark upon my soul.
Hours and hours I have spent,
Wondering where those lifetimes went;
As this journey twists and winds,
Through mountains and valleys in my mind.
I have no idea where the path shall go,
Surrendering to the universal flow;
But still I’m able to look back and see,
I’m healing those broken pieces inside of me.
Your choice of words are beautiful, making this poem extremely poignant. I love it.
