Weary, hungry, and disoriented, Jesse trudged along the path.
He pressed his wound, the result of an encounter with a wolf.
Three hours he trekked, urging his legs continue.
He paused, then images of his wife, bed, and fireplace propelled him.

He is going through so much pain and his experience gave him strength.
Indeed, he is hurt, but his fortitude and determination to survive is his strength as he attempts to return home. That he survived the attack is a miracle. I hope he makes it to that fireplace. I can imagine him visualizing it and its warmth.
