5 minute freewrite 2259 prompt don't feed the aliens

They came in pieces, the first to appear were their heads. No one knew what to do with them some people started gathering as many as they could find and placed them in areas for what I thought was yard art.

No one knew why the heads of aliens were falling from the sky. But the ones who saw them as art did not care. They kept gathering them, and one day I noticed it was the same people who looked for them and displayed the heads as art. I always joked that they looked hungry and would throw cookies to them.

One day as I walked by, stopping to throw a couple of cookies, I could see that some of the heads had started to change color, they looked as if they were coming to life.

I watched them grow new ribcages, many of them at a time, one for every head that had landed.

I stood there like I was frozen in time, watching them grow. I had a calm feeling take over me.

The heads that were alone started to grow.

As I stood there watching them grow, an angry woman came running out of an ice cream cone castle. She was screaming, don't feed the aliens. What have you done? They are not ready, they are not ready.

She ran to this sign that oddly enough read 911 across the top of it.

She laid the sign flat on the ground and up came 2 spaceships, she gathered all of the heads that had not grown, and her and the heads took off to outer space. I reached up to scratch my head because I was clueless as to what had just happened and my head was gone.
